Once upon the '60s in Chicago ...
Synopsis for the '60s-slow: After the 1968 Republican National Convention in Chicago, some hippies, who called themselves "yippies" for Youth International Party, were put on trial for "conspiracy to riot." Abby Hoffman was their vocal leader, Judge Julius Hoffman was an old codger who couldn't stand hippies, William Kunstler defended some of the Yippies, and Bobby Seale, leader of the Black Panther party, was on trial with the others (called the "Chicago 8") during part of the trial. He was bound and gagged (literally!) by Judge Hoffman for demanding his Constitutional right to defend himself. He was later removed from the courtroom and tried separately.
Oh, and VVed to here. |
