I found this package a few days ago. It's a DVD consisting of two documentaries on penguins (variably named according to where you live). It's essentially this package here, the US names are in the title.
The two documentaries are NZ productions named Emperors of Antarctica (which has an IMDb page) and, Meet the Real Penguins which doesn't.
The first is essentially March of the Penguins done in 1992, but as a classic documentary, i.e., it includes the human factor and some history of the first human observation of Emperors in about 1915 (Scott et al) etc. It doesn't have the anthropomorphisation of MOTP, and the footage isn't quite of the quality of MOTP but... it contains plenty of penguins! Interestingly, some of the commentary (phrases such as "in the harshest place on earth" etc), and even some of the music may sound familiar to those who've seen MOTP. You could almost call MOTP a remake of this. Not that I mind.
BTW, this one contained a familiar few seconds. Does anyone recall an avatar that StaLean used a couple of years ago of a penguin walking toward some broken ice, then a quick slap with a flipper sends him face-first into the icy water? Well, that was from this documentary.  Without the flipper slap of course. 
The second is nothing but penguins. In Antarctica, NZ, Chile, Galapagos, you name it, if there are penguins there then this documentary has covered them. Plenty of great underwater footage of most of the species; also breeding, nesting in NZ's forests, hiding from the heat in burrows in Chile, raising chicks etc.
Anyway, just thought I'd mention this one in case any other pengaholics pass by.

We use to have my avatar-winning "flipper-slapping penguin footage" in the Winner's Gallery, but alas, that hasn't been seen in a 'penguin's age.' It was one of my favorite wins, which I haven't seen in a 'penguin's age,' either.  |

I think penguins prefer fish! 
On the subject of fish, I just had one for dinner that I caught today. I didn't see any penguins  but did see some dolphins.

There's a new movie coming out in the United States and United Kingdom next month called Arctic Tale. IMDb says its coming to Australia in January. I was lucky enough to have seen the film in rough cut form about a year ago when I worked for a woman that helped in the post-production process. The movie isn't about penguins, but I suspect Sean and others on this FOURum will enjoy it as much as I did. The photography is as beautiful as March of the Penguins and the animal behavior is as inspirational and "anthropomorphic" as well.
I was also lucky enough to have seen the rough cut of Arctic Tale before seeing An Inconvenient Truth. The cut I saw of Arctic Tale had a bit of a global warming theme to it that was just obvious enough to those who knew about the issue, but subtle enough that it might have escaped some people. There was concern in the editing process that the global warming theme might have been confusing or unnecessary, but my boss and I agreed that it was not presented in a heavy-handed way and that it should stay in the film. A week after I saw the rough cut of Arctic Tale, my boss and I went together to see An Inconvenient Truth. To those that found the CGI animated polar bear scene to be pure manufactured propoganda, there is an unscripted scene in Arctic Tale involving a real polar bear and a real peace of ice that is very similar to the CGI scene shown in An Inconvenient Truth. Judging by the movie's trailer, it seems like they kept that theme in. |

Looking forward to it. There are plenty of cute animals up there too, e.g., polar bears, Arctic foxes, Harp seal pups etc. My favourite episode of the BBC "Blue Planet" series is the polar regions one. |
