Correct me if I am incorrect. The titles of All The Presidents Men consists of a typewriter smashing into paper. Sky TV broadcast it recently with gentle fade in fade out titles. In the interests of veracity -desist patronage of Sky broadcasting.
It has been a long time since I saw this movie, and the last time it was on TCM about a month or so ago, I missed the opening, but I seem to recall something like that.
The trivia section of the imdb entry has this to say:
The furious volley of typewriter keys striking paper in the opening scenes was created by layering the sounds of gunshots and whip-lashes over the actual sounds of a typewriter, accentuating the film's theme of words as weapons. This is also why the closing scene has a teletypewriter printing headlines with the sound of cannon fire from a 21-gun salute in the background.
