My Monday Mix

A bit of History:
> Back in pre-history, way before the iPod, we had the gramophone or phonograph. Pimple's wonderful machine played those records that need a tiny needle to be placed on a grooved waxed disk which turns round a turntable.

> Does anyone still remember Tom Mix? He was a well-loved early screen cowboy who starred in, even directed many films, like the one cited here. Though born in Pennsylvania he's honored with his own museum somewhere in Illinois. I know that because my parents took us there on our way to vacation in Canada when I was a widdle girl. Now that's history!

Seems there are two Tom Mix museums, one in Pennsylvania and one in Oklahoma. No mention of one in Illinois.

Sure you're not getting Mixed up?

It was a looooooooong time ago, so it's probably closed by now. I remember it vividly. It was definitely Illinois because my dad used all the family trips to teach us geography and history, and he told us that Abraham Lincoln had come from that state.

It mostly consisted of a large room with curved walls which were painted with a diorama of Mix in various scenes from his films. It also had some really early photographs of Mix and the couple who ran the museum said they were relatives of his family. I also remember learning his middle name was Hezikiah, which was hardly common, even back in those days!

PS - not everything is on Wikipedia, young man!

You're probably right. Anyhow, it was so long ago that the discrepancy can probably be explained by movement of the tectonic plates.
