TA:MOU = Themed Anniversary: Moving On Up
DA EVEN NEWER ROOLZ
Each Tuesday a theme will be decided based on the Anniversary of some significant event. All you have to do is trawl your reviews for any that relate to that event and post them here with a link.
You can post as many as you wish, so long as either the film or your review clearly relates to the theme. You can only post during the week of the current TA:MOU.
You don't have to say you voted unless you really want to - but you are expected to visit all the links posted. As a courtesy to the majority of fwfrs, you may only post a link that uses the http://www.fwfr.com domain name.
Each TA:MOU # will be removed when a new one takes its place. This is to deter re-visiting of expired threads. Yours truly Da Management
ON THIS DAY in 1901, The Boxer Rebellion in China officially ended with the signing of the Boxer Protocol. The Rebellion is especially interesting for the misconceptions it lodged in the minds of subsequent generations.
For instance, it's a myth that the opium trade was foisted on the west by China, when it was European traders and Christian missionaries who introduced the drug to the Chinese to undermine the resistance of the Boxers. They were an organized group of rebels operating in small bands, officially called The Righteous Fists of Harmony.
So, our theme today, hanging tenaciously by the elastic of their boxer shorts, involves films about boxers and/or boxing.
So climb into the ring, chomp on that mouthguard, touch gloves and punch the living crap out of each other. Oh, year, Boxing Helena is just giving you way too much of an advantage!
