Lemmy in for #679.

If the names Percy Dovetonsils and The Nairobi Trio mean anything to you be aware that today marks the anniversary of the untimely death (1962) of Ernie Kovacs, one of the true comic artists of the golden age of television. While his film career did not duplicate his success on the tube, his influence was great--Monty Python, Laugh In, Letterman, SNL (esp. Chevy Chase) and Sesame Street all owe a debt to his unique comic skills.

Excellent tribute! Would have 5/5'd but I'd voted for one already. 4/4.

Excellent tribute! Got all my votes.

Well said, Lemmy! One of my most fav comedy performers ever and a big influence on my childhood. His wife, singer Edie Adams, a regular on the show, was no slouch either! If anyone searches and searches they can maybe find a comedy compilation album of American 1950s comedy stars ... and Kovacs is on it, along with a hilarious routine from Sid Caesar and Imogen Coca.

And now, there's a film about Molly Goldberg!

This time, in Googlevision

That is to say, first time posting in Chrome.

DIG!'s editing choices have been criticized by the Dandy Warhols for trashing their friend, but after hearing them out I watched it again and still conclude it's a terrific documentary. You see two distinct paths unfolding and although the Warhols chief critique is that you only see a few of the Brian Jonestown Massacre's actions, the actions you do see are clearly of BJM's very own, very authentic, undoing. Free on Hulu... go watch it.

The Gigolos is a comedy, sort of.

I doubt this is a spoiler for Goya's Ghosts (here and in the second review), but as it was a few years ago I'm not sure how much of a dramatic turn it is: During the Inquisition, a character declining pork is deemed sufficient evidence of being Jewish.

Spoiler for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in the middle review.
