You can't tell by the cast list or title, but these "two" animated movies are basically the same film. "Doogal" is "Magic Roundabout" with one character's name spelled differently and virtually all the voices redubbed (without apparant attempt to lip-sync) by American actors. As such, should they be considered the same movie for FWFR purposes? |

I'd imagine the best/only practical way is to follow IMDB's example. Benj has better things to do than consider each film on an individual basis. I note IMDB has the US "version" as a separate film with a separate release year, although the UK/French versions are considered as one film. Go figure.

I've changed the ambiguous "he" in the previous post. It was Stewart criticizing his own film. I don't think Ebert ever reviewed it, perhaps based on Jon Stewart's advice.
But the question remains, should two films that would indistingishable except for the soundtrack be considered separate entities on FWFR? |

Well, Ebert can be harsh at times, but I'm thinking I can easily avoid this one without regret. |

Jon Stewart of the Daily Show/Oscar Hosting duties actually did his level best to dissude people from seeing the film. When Roger Ebert was his guest Stewart described his own character as "a spring, who is trying to take over the world using ice-rays that come out of his moustache." Even Stwart couldn't believe how bad it was. |

I was amused by this user comment on "Doogal" on IMDB:
Inane, cheap, stupid and pointless. How does a film like this even get made? SOMEone approved the making of this junk. It's beyond words, but I owe it to anyone who loves cinema to shout this in as clear vernacular as possible -- this movie stinks! Doogal lies, is lazy, and this is never resolved. Its stupidity is preceded only by its cheap, thoughtless stupidity. Never see this film. It's the first movie for which I've EVER asked my money back. It deserves no explanation or attention other than to tell you to forget about it. Tell your children it's evil -- ANYthing. Just don't support this film in any way, shape, manner or form. You've been (respectfully) warned.
