Just as noncentz has been dethrowned, another Goliath has been beaten (or at least tied). MguyX's Kramer Vs. Kramer review is now officially listed as the Number 1 review in the top 100 toppling the immortal "Icy dead people."

OK, and it's so frickin clever that I even frickin voted for it, but would all you icy dead reviewers please SHUT UP NOW?

Sounds like a challenge.
You would think there wouldn't be any left, but I just submitted one.
Well, as close as I could get to one.

I also submitted one not too long ago, and it was approved. I'm not proud of it, but what the hell, all the cool kids were doing it and I needed a review for A Beautiful Mind.

I'm with Sean and cool. Both reviews made me laugh, which no "Icy dead people" ripoff can possibly do nowadays [give it a rest, folks!].

Then you're bound to be disappointed with my pending "All Souls Day: Dia De Los Muertos" review. I'm goin' international, baby!

Update: Must've piqued someone's curiousity because the review is now up

Anyone know of a film about a voyeur with a predilection for pregnant women? Just so that I can submit "Eyes seeded people", you understand.

I wouldn't want any classic reviews to be removed, but(/therefore) they're a good way to discuss the theory of what is allowed.

...would be to split hairs so fine that I couldn't trust them in anyone's hands but Sal.

Sometimes Sean is as funny as he thinks he is.

I crack me up.

Kramer has put the foot down and left dead people behind.

Er . . . um . . . it's not that kind of sponge.

For the entire script . . . .

Imagine my surprise! No: I found out the hard way.

First of all, let me express my sincerest appreciation to Whippersnapper and Sal for posting sponge-worthy rants. (Why is it that the mere thought of the word Kramer always sends me back to Seinfeld?) That has long been my most favored aspect of the site.

Second, no, it is not the most clever review on the site, nor is it my most brilliant one. (Why has no one voted for my "This is a movie" review????) (Just kidding.)

However, it does seem to represent several things that don't make me sad about garnering the all-time #1 spot, if even for just a little while:

It was one of those goofy reviews that just popped out a long time ago. I wasn't trying to be clever, and it just seemed like a moderately funny observation. However, as with many of the reviews posted by our cyber-pals, it has a double-entendre that at least the discussion in this thread has overlooked -- one that, in the end, you may find yourself smacking your own brow for having missed. "I bet Kramer wins" is a commentary on the movie: I saw it when I was a teen, and I liked it. It's a "winner," hence my bet that Kramer "wins" for everyone. That should end the "is it a legitimate review" debate.

Incidentally I, like Sal, never said any of the top reviews should be removed. If they went, what would we have to complain about?

I thought an interesting point was made by TitanPa, that he thought the top 4 were great reviews but wasnt sure they'd be accepted today. Doesn't that mean that great reviews are being rejected now?

The fact that the review is both silly and sound does not make it the best review of all time -- many reviews do that. But that quality at least gives it legitimacy. Back when I was a ranting fool, I used to scream about mere-pun reviews all of the time. I argued, as did the Whip previously, that the reviews were just making jokes, and that they didn't really "review" the film. Then some of the puns were just too compelling, so I stopped complaining. But "I bet Kramer wins" does exactly what I used to champion: it makes a joke, but it also reviews the film.

Yeah, there's a bunch more reviews that are better, but if the Kramer review took number one for no other reason than to illustrate a representative feature of reviewing in four words -- the ability to crack a silly joke while still making an observation -- then I'm not too upset.

And last of all, I don't think I ever promoted the review, so I have sat back oh these many years and quietly watched it rise on its own merit. So, again, I'm not saddened by the little review that could.

Thanks for all the well-wishing guys!

P.S. I love the noncentz knock-off version.
