Posted - 09/25/2006 : 14:37:37 So on Friday I submit an odd little review that I'm not even sure will get accepted, because it's pictorial in nature and the last time I tried that style the review was declined. Then I go home for the weekend (used to have internet at home, not anymore).
I come back Monday to find out that not only was it accepted, but it got a staggering 20 votes even without me pimping it (for perspective, my highest voted review has 25 votes)!
All I can say is thanks, guys! Especially Baftababe, for mentioning it on the fourum. You guys made my day!
I'd also like to thank whosever idea it was to make the letters S, H, and I so damn symmetric.

It is slightly different, but essentially it's the same type of thing. (I really like this kind of thing, though.)

Um, perhaps but probably not. |

Posted - 09/25/2006 : 23:11:41 The secret of both those reviews is that that they have the "It's so bloody obvious, I wish I'd thought of that" factor. That's why they get the votes.
Keep 'em coming. |

Posted - 09/25/2006 : 19:56:18 I loved it too and voted for it, though it does go against some of the "rebusy" anti-rules here. But it's not really a rebus, is it? And besides, benj okayed it, and thus made your review an official hellraiser! I hope it makes it all the way to the Top 100.
EDIT: Yukie, I know exactly what you mean: there's no predicting what will become a vote sensation around here. I have some absolute beauties that haven't even gotten one single vote. Then there are a couple on my top-100-by-votes page that make me frankly wonder why they're there. So I guess you just let the karma wheel roll, and everything will be all right in the end. At least that's how it's worked out for me. |

Posted - 09/25/2006 : 19:34:39 Couldn't understand why that review was getting so many votes -- until now. I finally got it.
Good one. (Even if it takes me three days to understand it.)
You never know what is going to take off. I submitted a review for The Sleeping Dictionary thinking it would never be approved because it is title play. http://fwfr.com/display.asp?ID=6549 Now, it is the No. 1 vote getter among my 1,400-plus reviews.

Posted - 09/25/2006 : 17:45:32 I really like it. However, be warned that benj has stated that he is against these kind of 'rebus reviews' (though Cheese_Ed has some). However, he is a democrat as well as a despot and so I would think it is unlikely that he would disallow it now. |
