Posted - 11/14/2006 : 04:22:31 I understand that reviews get denied. I understand that GREAT reviews get denied. But NOW, a review I submitted that got ACCEPTED, and I even got lots o' votes on thru you fine folks, has now been RETROACTIVELY rejected as too similar to another review!!!!
Jesus, that's irritating! |

When will merps be back?
So what's the story? Holidays?
I believe benj gave em an all expenses paid 4 week trip to Tahiti.
That's right - they can all visit www.tahiti.com as much as they wish!

Yippee! Mary's back!
No votes, however, apart from the one gained since her return.
Benj, may I have my votes back, please? [Is there a smiley signifying abject pleading?]
Um... any chance you can tell me how many there were pre-decline?
I couldn't tell you exactly, benj - but I know it was more than my 'Mary, head of state', which has 37.
If you add the votes without adding who did the voting, wont people end up voting on it twice? I voted on it previously, sure i'll forget that at some point and vote again if the vote button isn't greyed out. But if you don't add the votes, it'll probably never get back to its previous dizzying heights
Bit of a quandry, that
You've got a point there, Bife. I tend to work on the assumption that Benj and his box of tricks are all-knowing and all-powerful, so that if he presses the right combination of buttons we can go back to the situation pre-delete. But I suppose you're right. Not that I mind if someone votes twice, but in the interests of fairness I guess I ought to rely on persuading the original voters to do it all again. C'est la vie, as they say in Peckham; the main thing is that I've got Mary back. |

Wait... I just did some quick adding and realize that if my pending reviews were all suddenly approved, I'd break into the Top 100 just ahead of Alan Smithee.... I must rethink this...

That is very true, but I still have to say I was a bit thrilled tonight when I was cruising around and recognized the review in the "what film" bubble as the one I wrote for Blacula. Fairly big odds against it, and it's the first in the several months I've been here. I'm glad it was one I'm not too ashamed of. I'm a sucker for cheap thrills.

What happened to whimsical and charming? For what it's worth my opinion hasn't changed of you at all - you still write good reviews, and you're an interesting contributor to the Fourum - the fact you think you're a petty little shit is neither here nor there to me - it just makes me suspect you take all this a bit too seriously.
As the Joker might have said - "laugh and the world laughs with you..."
You see, I despise smileys, which, I believe, are spawns of satan. The downside is that people who don't know me have a hard time differentiating between the few occasions when I'm being serious, and those when I'm not.
A caveat: Taking me seriously on "the cruel internets" is akin to taking all this shit seriously in real life.
quote: Originally posted by wildheartlivie "Revenge is a dish best served cold" shows up in many films (for example, The Godfather)
Not in the film, it doesn't. (A variation is in the book, mind)

For what it's worth I don't think "Arch-enemy serves Cold Dish" as it stands is particularly whimsical or charming. The inclusion / exclusion of Khan in this actually makes no difference, other than making it specific.
And there I was thinking you were cool, based purely on your avatar: Brian Bolland's iconic image of the Joker's birth from The Killing Joke.
Instead, you've just joined the list of people I dislike on general principle.
Yes, it's a long list. And yes, I am a petty little shit.
Gentlemen! You can't fight in here - this is a war room!
Thank you, Mr. President. |
