FOUR YOUR CONSIDERATION - TREASURE HUNT

Put any five reviews you like in your F.Y.C. list.
The only rule is to not use the ones from the previous round - you must change them every round.
Post here to declare that you've done it. Sooner is better than later.
You must read the F.Y.C.s of all participants.
The next round starts on Monday or Thursday at 6:00 a.m. FWFR time, whichever comes next.

Many reviews for films I haven't seen contain a pun that doesn't need me to have seen them, or a pun that I can tell refers to a character/actor etc. and which causes me to look it up.

Er, no.

Yes I wasn't making myself clear.......I did type rashly earlier, I don't completey ignore the reviews of unseen movies!!

but of the movies i have not seen I cannot understand the review for, so that excludes them anyway unless it is blatantly obvious of course I will.

Casino Royale by yours truly (blooded means introduced as well as bleeding)

Well, it means 'introduced to blood' (as in foxhunting) - I've voted for it on that account, but I cannot find a sense of it that means 'introduced' in a general sense. Is it jive or something?!

The rule is to read all five reviews; if one missed out the films one hasn't seen, that would mean skipping a big proportion of reviews, most of which wouldn't contain spoilers.

quote:
the post should say something like "My F.Y.C. contains a spoiler for X".

Do these two statements contradict each other??

Er, no.

So why not lighten your vote load here.

Argh. It appears you have spoiled Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for me if I am not mistaken. Spoiler reviews should have warnings.

Votes coming your way in appreciation LadyM. I have not yet visited pages and also have not seen that film, but am very keen to.

Aw, thank you for that. I'll give you a voting back to show my appreciation for your appreciation

Sorry Ladymeerkat for any unintentional stress I have caused you i hope you can enjoy the movie after all this trauma.

Anyway it hasn't been totally spoiled as anyone who has seen the movie will agree?

And it's worse to have said that. Now LadyMeerkat, who has read the review, knows that there is something extra on top of that, which means that she(?) won't be able to help guessing at it (very possibly successfully) when she sees the film.

My opinion of eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is that is doesn't rely solely on trickery or maybe twists like other movies do but has more substance between it's credits.

So do not jump to conclusions Sal especially about a movie that you have not seen.

So come back and tell me what you think once you have seen it.

A question about this "Eternal Sunshine" spoiling - at what point do we assume the majority of people will have seen the film we are reviewing and don't need a warning? I'm sure many of us are spoiling films on a regular basis in our FYC and don't think about it because of the age or the fame of the film, but we can't be spoiler warning every film, surely? Eternal Sunshine has been out for three years, true not everyone will have seen it, but not everyone has seen Seven, or The Usual Suspects, or The Sixth Sense, or even Psycho for that matter.

I haven't seen The Usual Suspects or Psycho. Since the outcome of The Sixth Sense is completely obvious, it cannot really have a spoiler. One cannot assume that people have seen any film. One can refer to the outcomes of most films, though, because they are not the type of film that gets spoilt by this. For other films, if one wants to include a spoiler (for some reason), all one needs to do is state in one's post that one has done so.

Yep, there should be a price to pay for not seeing a film on time. I did not see "The sixth sense" and the spoiler has been spoiled countless number of times that I can't even think of watching it ever - the worst was that the spoiler came not just from my friends but also from other unforeseen sources, such as "50 First dates".
