Posted - 02/17/2007 : 20:01:04 The mysterious MERPs.
Who are they? Do they know each other? How do they get appointed? Do they get to vote on their own reviews? So little is known!
Well, it stands to reason the MERPs are regular FWFRers. They are also probably long time members of the site, and therefore quite prominent on the top 100 ... people you often see submitting FWFRs, posting on the forums etc.
Yet they remain shrouded in mystery!
From time to time, a debate springs up about the MERPs. How does their process for accepting or declining reviews work etc ... and during those debates, most regular forum users chip in with their thoughts.
Now ... I'm thinking the MERPs themselves use such debates to help keep their identity secret. They bluff us. So a MERP (it could be Foxboy. It could be Bife. It could be Baftababe ... we just don't know)sees the thread, and adds a comment along the lines of "Gosh, yes I wonder how the MERPs decide what counts as too generic"
Well their little bluffs aren't fooling me. After careful observation of the forums over the last 12 months, I now have a complete list of every MERP.
And before someone asks ... NO ... I'm not one of them.
.
..
...
....
.......or am I?

Tori, is that you in the pic? If not, who's the hottie?
Ha ha, yeah it's me but it's an old pic. My hair is really dark now. :) |

That, my friend, is the one and only Tori. She and Em are my longstanding fwiffer celebrity girlfriends. |

I don't know who they are, nor do I want to. As Turrell says: "I put them in they get approved I move on." What more do you need? |

Be MERP. Be very MERP.
A long time ago in a galaxy MERP, MERP away . . . |

Posted - 02/20/2007 : 06:48:59 Kissing arse aside - I thought it was interesting but not overly useful in any way and I'm not going to pester anyone for approvals - I put them in they get approved I move on - this is a site for fun everyone should learn to not take it all so seriously. |

Posted - 02/20/2007 : 06:30:50 That's funny, the MERPs all emailed me last week and said... oh... nevermind. |

The MERPs all emailed me, and told me you're their favourite of all the FWFR members, Turell. They added "if only there were people like him on FWFR ... but sadly there aren't." |

Posted - 02/19/2007 : 17:33:30 A MERP fourum is a good idea. That way they can consult each other. It's not so heavy handed. |

I didn't know about this. So you know who they are but we don't? Isn't that an unfair advantage?
I remember that, but don't remember (too many) names.
Not caring, actually, to know their Secret Identities, because that may interfere with their abilility to stand for Truth, Justice, all that stuff. |

The criterion was that at the time when they were established, they had to have 500 reviews. I think there were under 50 in that category at that time. There were, I think, 11 MERPs: these were just everyone eligible who volunteered. Benj rejected the idea that they should not know each other's identities (or those of people submitting reviews), so I assume that they do. I have no reason to think that they can vote on their own reviews. |
