2. Isolate that film* and present the link in this thread WITH ...
3. AN EXPLANATION OF WHY YOU LIKE IT.
Who knows, your wish may come true
* It's been covered before how to do this, but here's a step-by-step recap: 1. Go to the page featuring everyone's reviews of your chosen film. EITHER 2. From the drop-down display options choose My Reviews Only.
OR 2. Select Reviewer Name for the page display. 3. Find your own review and count which number it is on the page. 4. Up at the top url display you'll see something like this: http://www.fwfr.com/display.asp?sort=2&dir=2&id=1698&Mode=&Rows=1&Start=11 5. See where it says Start=11 ... change that numeral to whatever you counted in step 3, and press go. 6. Your new page should now start with your chosen review. 7. NOW, to eliminate all the other reviews still showing, go up to the url display again and see where it says Rows=100. 8. Change that to Rows=1
3. Your new page should now have only your chosen review displayed. Copy that url and use it as your link for this thread.

Posted - 07/24/2007 : 01:22:15 Some crashingly disappointing Star Wars action but quite a good review. I love finding something obvious in a actor or character name that hasn't been spotted yet - I wrote this particular review quite late on - a couple of hundred reviews late in fact, and loved the fact this simple trick had been overlooked. |

Of the three reviews I have of the form _____spotting, this is the one that is the closest to Trainspotting (although I've been trying to no avail to get 'Terrainspotting' approved for The Beach). Also, it's better than my other review for 28 Days Later, which nevertheless has more votes. |

Please don't go a Tony Blair and tell us that any problems we have with your idea is because we have failed to understand it. That ain't necessarily so.
Isn't it possible this palaver has a reason?
I'd suggest it's because there is no connection between the idea of a review which requires explanation and one which is at the top of page 2.
I cite your review as evidence for this. The explanation you give, firstly, tells us nothing we did not know about the meaning of the review, and, secondly, does not tell us anything about your approach to film and life and whatever, which you tell us is one of the aims of the thread.
Now I could select from my reviews one which would benefit from an explanation, and might even tell you something about my approach to films and life and whatever, but I can't because you have extraneously restricted me to the top line of page 2, and none of those reviews fit that category.
It would seem to me to make sense to either remove the top of page 2 stipulation and allow people to choose freely, or, alternatively, keep the stipulation but accept that the reviews people must choose from may not require an explanation, and some fwfrs, like Ali and myself, are disinclined to be condescending to others who we respect by offering them a self-evident explanation, which, in reality, tells people nothing new.
(Incidentally, deleting other people's posts off your thread is not cool.)

I've always liked this one, apparently more than others do. It's pithy and concise, and it rhymes. Also, at least in the US, we were barraged with "The Coreys" for much too long - from their rise to their fall. And now, they are getting their own reality show. The Lost Boys was always one of my guilty pleasures. |

Posted - 07/23/2007 : 12:29:32 TO ANYONE who's having issues with this thread.
Oh gosh oh gee -- what a palaver it's turning out to be
As Sal kindly and rightly pointed out, I'm NOT asking anyone to explain their reviews. It's a matter of why you think something's funny or witty or why you think it deserves one or more further votes. Merely wanting more votes isn't really a reason.
Part of the reasoning behind the thread is to share with the rest of us a bit of your approach to films and life and whatever it is you want to share.
Votes may come. But that's not really the point.
Honestly, I just can't see what's so difficult to grasp.
And, if this seems too much hassle just to post one FWFR, if you don't want to play this game, please, I will not be offended if you remove your postings from the thread. Nor will I be offended if you start your own thread with your own rules.
I hope you won't ... not any of you. I have the highest respect for your collective wit and intellect. Anyone familiar with my own approach to these things has by now realized I'm far more interested in sharing than in competition.
So please respect the spirit with which the thread was created.
I thank you, one and all.

I have to say Baffs old girl, if the best you can do with your explanation is tell us a little about the plot and also that you are playing on the meaning of the word "run" I have to tell you that I didn't need that explained to me and there are some here alhough certinly not I, who might feel it was a little superfluous.
There are reviews which could do with explaining, but, as you limit the reviews I can choose to those on the top of the second page, its unlikely that one of those will fit the bill. As the top of my second page have 22 votes its easy to see that if any really needed explaining, they probably wouldn't have got that many votes in the first place.
Do you really want me to write "Gone With The Finned" is a play on the title of a 1939 film "Gone With The Wind", cause I am not going to do it! I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!
Oops!

B.B. started the last one a day early, thinking she was a day late. She then stated that it was going to be on Mondays from now on. |

Posted - 07/23/2007 : 10:22:25 I will definitely take part in any potential thread to grab more votes. My vote-whoring urges are unstoppable.
However, I will not explain a review, and not only because it defeats the purpose of the site. What's the point of giving away the punch line to a joke, before telling the actual joke? I will stoop to unfathomable depths to get a vote, sure, but I must draw the line somewhere.

Sorry, love, but then could you please not take part in this thread. It's primary purpose is for others to enjoy why/how you came up with a particular review which we already know you like. Many people will already have voted on it, so voting really is NOT the main purpose of the thread, though, of course, there may be some important extra votes to be had.
There are other threads where you can just post your FWFRs for votes. Please respect the spirit of this different one.
Many thanks.
PS: the news we're getting about your elections in Turkey sound fascinating!
