Posted - 09/10/2007 : 14:27:35 I know this is a subject that gets debated a lot but i feel moved to write by the nature of some recent rejections. They seem to go against the ethos of this site as i understand it - ie to represent the film in as short and as witty a means as possible. The whole point in my eyes is to incorporate word play , puns and so on.
So if theres a film about a World war 2 Brazilian Dentist , you could write " Wartime Brazilian Dentist" and be factually accurate and not too generic. It was also be rather bland.
I'm not going to submit my declined reviews for debate on this thread. They have been resubmitted with the explanations that they had before.
Not trying to upset anyone - its a great site and Benj and the MERPS are doing a great job. |

You dont get it? And yet you get "Are we then yet?"?
I guess yours was too... obvious. The other one plays on "are we there yet" and that's why I got it. |

Surely that latter should be: Are we then yet? Otherwise it's totally meaningless.

Posted - 09/23/2007 : 16:47:54 Had a review declined for " Telly Savalas : The ABC's of winning Blackjack " which was " Kojak on Blackjack ". Reason - too similar to another review.
Other reviews " Kojak , a Blackjack Crackerjack " and " Kojak , Blackjack , Get Knack"
Good luck to them , they beat me to it but does that mean you can only have one review mentioning Kojak and Blackjack?

Posted - 09/20/2007 : 20:45:10 I had two reviews recently rejected, neither of which surprised me. One was 'Microsoft's Real Mission Statement' for The Matrix. There was no reason given, but i suspect it's because the review has nothing to do with the film. I still thought it was funny. The other was "'Springtime for Hitler' Prequel" for TRIUMPH OF THE WILL, which I think is hysterical....but what do I know?

Posted - 09/16/2007 : 00:38:59 Hmmm, I'll keep trying to mix it up, see what happens. I actually figured that using Nicholson's name in the description would personalize it, but I suppose it still come across vague.
I guess I should've scrolled down further before refering to 2 postings as having been 'several.' No excuse for lack of research.
Thanks Bafta |

Mars Attacks- jack Nicholson has 2 roles... my submission: A pair of Jacks
There are several references among the accepted reviews of Nicholson's dual roles, yet I can't seem to get 1 thru.
Any offerings?
I'm guessing here, but I'd say it's not specific enough to that film ... the only other double Jack I can see that's been approved mentions the Martians. A pair of Jacks could just as well reference any film with two guys named Jack rather than Jack N. playing two roles. Maybe you can think of another word, then drop the initial article ... so "Pair of Jacks. <insert new word here>" Wotcha reckon?!
