I need a single word for new talent. It's specifically new comic talent, but it doesn't have to cover that.

Any ideas?

Thanks for all the further suggestions. I'd love to use tyros, but am not sure that it's really the right context. Showcaser is probably the closest to my request, but in the context of my review would be almost tautological. I think I will go with either Bafta's suggestion or newcomer. (The latter has a coincidental advantage for the review, although it's still not ideal.)

I like Bafta's third choice. How about:

Novice
Understudy
Extra (okay, not the best for a comic)

Quipster

Sideliner (trying to consider opposite of "headliner")

Opener

Nobody

Also trying to think of venues for emerging talent:
Showcaser

Thanks - maybe that's a bit ambiguous re: success (which may be accurate, but not what this particular review needs).

This one maybe adds a bit to newcomer - thanks.

Thanks. They're certainly less neutral but the review is not quite that positive about them!

Yep, that's what I've got at the moment (well, a variant of it) and so I'll go with that if nothing else crops up. The review is quite explicitly positive about said newcomers and so the ideal would be a less neutral term.
