Posted - 01/25/2008 : 01:18:00 I realize the mods have a difficult task in studying the reviews and weighing on their merits. I have no issue about patiently waiting for my reviews to be voted upon. What I don't understand is why so many of my reviews remain in drydock while other have their reviews processed in droves. Is it because different reviews are more readily capable of being voted on? If so, so be it. But it seems odd that one person would have hundreds of reviews voted on while a someone else with a much smaller total of reviews would be neglected. I hope this doesn't sound whiny, really it's more a matter of curiousity. |

Well, well, well.. didn't take much twisting of the arm for you to come 'round to the hottest new(old) fad in Fourum... the self-promotion, but... that's what this section of Fourum is for, right?! I, of course, checked out your page and sprinkled it with many votes. Really enjoy checking out any and all pages, keep 'em coming y'all...
Great stuff! |

I have said this many times before: Catuli is the best reviewer on the site who never appears in the FYC. Please check out his pages for some great reviews.
I whole-heartedly agree, tho I've never sung those praises aloud. I've been a fan of Catuli's reviews for many months now. Please grace us(me) with your reviews on a weekly basis! |

Posted - 01/25/2008 : 18:27:10 Catuli: You gotta regularly go on the FYC thread. Your recent reviews have been absolutely first rate, especially the most recent Juno review. But people have to know about 'em.
I've sprinkled more votes on your first page in the past ten minutes than I probably have in a week.
Excellent stuff. Show it off. |

Posted - 01/25/2008 : 15:07:50 Here's what I've found over the years about approvals.
1) Movies from popular and current films get approved faster than obscure films.
2) Benji and the Merps have hot and cold streaks. A few weeks ago they went insane and approved hundreds of reviews. My pending pile went from 160 reviews to 0. Since then, I've had about five reviews approved. Hot .... then cold.
3) This is kind of obvious -- the more reviews you have in your pending pile, the more approvals you get. I always write 20 reviews a week, so my pending pile is getting bigger again and I'm back up to 60. So you will see a lot more of my reviews in the "newly approved" section than somebody who has five in their pending pile.
And note to everyone else. I have said this many times before: Catuli is the best reviewer on the site who never appears in the FYC. Please check out his pages for some great reviews. |

Posted - 01/25/2008 : 13:37:39 Thanks Lemmy, I took four years of Latin in high school and we stumbled across an old book informally referred to as a "trot" or "pony," which had perfect translations of our assignments. It got so eerie that we'd intentionally botch up a passage to avoid suspicion and not always receive A+s.
I'm not sure if the review deciding hold-up is solely based on the number of reviews in storage. It seems as though mine can take months to be either rejected or accepted. Oh well, there's always that great feeling when one does get accepted.

Posted - 01/25/2008 : 12:48:06 Hi, Catuli. Can't help thinking of my old Latin classes when your name comes up. I get very few reviews passed these days because I don't write many any more. As I understand it, volume of reviews passed is a function of how many reviews are in your pending file.
Hope this linkless, non-self-promoting post helps.
Cheers. |

Posted - 01/25/2008 : 04:33:49 Oh, that's how that works... don't know who to thank first!
Thanks to Catuli/Foxboy/Whipper for making my friggin' nite!!!!!!!!! Look forward to talking to y'all in the future(near).
Sorry Catuli, that I couldn't accurately answer the questions you posed in this thread, tho I tried early on...
As usual, will be thinking of this site as I work my meaningless job tomorrow...
G'nite all! |

Really? I liked it when I wrote it, but that flick rarely garners much attention. Hell, the title alone says 'stay away from this film'... thanks. Have been a long-time admirer of your reviews... |

Posted - 01/25/2008 : 04:07:18 Sorry gang, I haven't posted in a while so my terms and clarity may be off. By mods I meant MERPS. My question is: Why are the reviews of some accepted or rejected much more frequently than the reviews of others? One thought would be that some reviews are of esoteric films, but that wouldn't be the case with my reviews. This is not a complaint, just a curiosity.
Yukon, although votes are much appreciated, and I send votes that your fine reviews richly deserve, I'd never be one to complain about not receiving votes...that's purely up to my esteemed fellow colleagues.
