Wow, thanks a ton, CF. You hit me so hard that I can recover only after a month to pay you back, in spirit, if not in quantity.
No prob Ahaa, happy to visit, tho this may not have been the most appropriate of threads to post my 'guess this quote' scenario. I again visited you today as promised, really dig your material. No need to hit me back, I really just came back into this thread to see if my 'wake the f..k up' line wasn't in total poor taste(Turned out to be more innocuous than I thought). Gran Marnier has a weird affect on the Cankle...
I recently posted a 'Guess the quote' thread in the 'Contests' portion of Fourum, hope you and many others will visit. Livie won the first round...

Wow Tiger, you must'a jarred somethin' loose!
The first reviewer to guess that film, plus the actor/actress to speak it, gets 25 free votes from the Cankle.... I swear!
Just lookin' for a reason to patronize your reviews...
I may have mis-quoted(in other words, it may not be verbatim), I tend to do that, but the offer still stands...
Well, the quote is by Roy's landlady: "What is it about good sex that makes me have to crap? You really jarred something loose, tiger." It is from the film "Kingpin" (1996) and mouthed by Lin Shaye.
Thanks to Yahoo search! I dunno abt the film or the actors - I am in it for the votes! - Honest!!!
I touched y'up... are we cool? Will re-visit you this week-end, and get even deeper into your submissions! |

We have ourselves a winner... You just jarred me loose, Tiger, and I'll be visiting your reviews very soon...
My favorite quote from that flick... " How's life??" Takin' forever!"
Always lookin' for an excuse to pay Ahaa's pages some attention, y'all shoulda woke the f..k up and got in on the action... Anybody who knows Lin Shaye gets double the votes I was gonna dish out anyway... Congrats, Muahaha |

Posted - 03/07/2008 : 18:47:05 I have a second pass one from June of 07, for xXx State of the Union. My oldest first-pass review is from January 7 for Balls of Fury.
Maybe I need to review better movies...
Update: Woot! I just had a half dozen reviews approved, including the one from xXx. Thanks, Merps! |

Posted - 03/07/2008 : 05:57:45 Hmmm ... the pipe seems to have become unblocked overnight.
I've had about 6 or 7 approved and 4 or 5 declined - the first sign of MERP activity on my FWFR in several months.

That's nothing! I have one for The Jazz Singer which I wrote in 1927 when it first came out "Sound'll never catch on!". I'm thinking about deleting it.
OK, well, the truth is 08APR07, on its 2nd pass.
Previously I have had several more than a year old on their 2nd pass, so this one's a baby.

Posted - 03/07/2008 : 02:37:20 Hey, don't feel bad - I've got reviews dating back to April 20th of last year.
I won't give up on 'em, though.... |

All those older ones got approved, apart from one that I keep resubmitting because inverted commas keep getting inserted into it for no good reason. My oldest unresubmitted one is now from 2008. |

Posted - 03/06/2008 : 23:03:23 I've got a resub orginally submitted in October. But it's the only review waiting - I haven't been inspired for months |

Most likely a resub that was sitting in his declined pile for years, I have plenty of them. |

Posted - 03/06/2008 : 11:05:07 A pending review for 'Top Gun' has been sitting in my pile since Aug 2... That's the best I can do. Yours from May is pretty impressive, though before the Merps went on their New Year's approval/denial spree I had a few approaching the 1 year anniversary.
I wonder what the record is...
Good luck |
