Put any five reviews you like in your F.Y.C. list. Do not use reviews from the previous round - you must change them every round. Post here to declare that you've done it. Sooner is better than later. Provide a spoiler warning in your post when appropriate. You must read the F.Y.C.s of all participants. The next round starts on Monday or Thursday at 6:00 a.m. FWFR time, whichever comes next. |

Posted - 06/26/2008 : 19:22:58 I would also prefer second-pass reviews to have a greater priority than they do now, but that is just a subjective preference and so I do not mind the wait. Having to wait longer because an older review is rejected as a duplicate or because MERPs think they know better than the dictionary is on another level altogether, because it is totally objective that the reviews are valid (or at least are valid in the ways the MERPs say they are not). |

Well, there's waits and there's waits.
We all have to show some patience, but there's no logic for the division of time resources such that some reviews have to wait more than a year for a second look. There was nothing particularly difficult about those two reviews either, was there? |

Posted - 06/26/2008 : 02:28:45 I don't mind the wait in itself but I do somewhat mind it being multiplied by the MERPs ignoring comments pointing out that the reviews are older than identical/very similar approved ones. |

It has been said that MERPs, other than Benj, can approve (or reject) second passes.
I still have several once-refused reviews which are now over a year old, and, as far as I can tell, no-one gives a damn about them.

You'll probably know better than me but is it still the deal that Benj can only approve second passes?
As far as I know, if this was ever the case, it hasn't been for a long time. I wish it were. However, I'd most like Benj to process reported reviews, as this often interacts with second-pass reviews. |

Posted - 06/26/2008 : 02:06:14 Thanks Chazbo. Caught the spooky gent too.
Interesting Whipper - I'd wondered myself if that might work. First passes are getting quicker and quicker over recent months. You'll probably know better than me but is it still the deal that Benj can only approve second passes? That would explain the extra time it can take... he's digging through backlogs on his own.
However - if you have second pass reviews 12 months old why not work through them in the "MERP my review" thread? I don't want to jinx it but it seems to be producing great results so far. |

My top two reviews got 15 votes each. Thanks very much.
When they were originally submitted they were rejected on first pass. I can't think of any reason at all for refusing one of them, and almost no reason for refusing the other.
So I resubmitted them.
That was more than 12 months ago.
On Sunday night I hadn't used up my 20 reviews for the week, so I deleted the reviews and resubmitted them as new reviews. When I looked 30 minutes later they had been accepted.
Why was it that they could not have been reconsidered without me having to resort to this?

Thanks, Demonic, and your Happening review really deserves more votes!
As does your Alfie review, ChocolateLady - simple yet appropriate.

I think I've gone overboard with the PC = peace/piece puns lately
I think a lot of us tend to have same-pun bunches sometimes. I know that I do, and I see it when I visit people's chronological pages.
I wonder why only five others have voted for your Charlie Wilson's War one. (Julia Roberts's anti-communist character is named Herring.) |

And I think to myself, what a blunderful world!
Four great ones there, especially the War Games one.
Thanks, Salopian. I think I've gone overboard with the PC = peace/piece puns lately, but that one's probably the best of the bunch.
P.S. It's been an extremely busy week for me, and I will get to everyone later today (U.S. time).
