Posted - 01/03/2009 : 21:24:17 I just submitted a review for Hitchcock's I Confess. As I often do with lesser known films, I immediately added an explanation. When I clicked "update," the review had already been approved!!
It couldn't have been more than twenty or thirty seconds between initially submitting it and updating it with an explanation. It's the fastest I've ever had a review approved! And it's definitely not an obvious review. Thanks to whoever did it.
Has anyone ever had a review approved directly after submitting it?

Hi Benj, It just did the same for me on "The Wrestler". When I submitted "Retired Rourke requests redemption" it bumped me out so I resubmitted Retired Ram requests redemption to be told that Anonymous had a similar review already published.

And when I submitted it again a few days later, Mr. Anonymous had already laid claim to it. The review is for Pan's Labyrinth, and it's all the way down at the bottom.
I'd put good money on that review being from you but it lost it's owner. The functionality to submit anonymous reviews was (supposedly) disabled 3 or so years before that film was even made!
I'll try and remedy this for you tonight.
EDIT: Done |

I also get immediate declines sometimes though which aren't quite as awesome.
Yeah, I get them as well. There must be an automated MERP expressly created for those immediate declines. Usually the given reason is "too similar to another review," or even recently "too similar to another submission." I was a little miffed about that one because, come to find out, an anonymous reviewer had submitted it first. So I was beaten out by an unnamed rival!
Hmm... it might be possible you were beaten by yourself there- if the system quirked and registered your review as Anon somehow. Unless the Anon review has been around for some time (there shouldn't be any Anon reviews being submitted anymore).
P.S. Shouldn't this thread just be call 'Wyatt Merp'?

I just submitted a review for Hitchcock's I Confess.
Did you get that Hitchcock box set of six movies over the christmas period which included 'I Confess'?
Or is it just a coincidence?
I Confess, I got the box set. I actually met some Strangers on a Train as it was heading North by Northwest away from the station. I thought one was an old friend, but it turned out to be the Wrong Man. The strangers started following me, which aroused Suspicion on my part. I moved to another car, but they kept following me. I was about to Dial M for Murder when they came up and introduced themselves as Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I had to overcome feelings like those of Stage Fright before I was able to speak. Mr. Smith said that he was a Foreign Correspondent and that he had a package for me. The only Hitch was that I couldn't open it until Christmas.
after i watched the box set i went to change a light bulb (with no help), then left the house and saw a chicken cross the road, then i entered a bar where i had a drink with an english man and a scotsman....
My life is one big joke. |

Haha yeah that really does suck. I had the same thing a little while ago. It turned out me and demonic had submitted exactly the same review, but he submitted it before me!
(Well actually, he submitted it quite a while before, had it approved, and then made a change to it, so it wasn't there when I first went on the film to review it, it was still pending when I submitted mine!) |
