Four Your Consideration - Treasure Hunt
Sean Says: Nearly the weekend!

Put any five reviews you like in your F.Y.C. list.
Do not use reviews from the previous round - you must change them every round.
Post here to declare that you've done it. Sooner is better than later.
Provide a spoiler warning in your post when appropriate.
You must read the F.Y.C.s of all participants.
The next round starts on Monday or Thursday at 6:00 a.m. FWFR time, whichever comes next.

Game theory doesn't dictate anything.

Yes it does. It's pretty hard to understand

No it doesn't (in the sense I meant -- sorry if I wasn't clear; things are obviously dictated within it). No it isn't.

So, what you're saying is that you were wrong to contradict me and that you apologise profusely for doing so?? Surely if I write something then it's the sense in which I meant it, rather than your interpretation, which is meaningful.

Nope, because you didn't say what you meant. You meant that within game theory things are dictated. What you said was that game theory dictates something to the world, which isn't true, since it is not compulsory to believe in game theory, or more particularly in its application to every type of scenario. So I may have taken what you said more literally than you meant it, but that wasn't wrong of me to do so. And I stand by the particular case here, that only the rules dictate the correct way to enter this round.

And you seem to think game theory isn't hard to understand. I have an IQ of 144, have been studying it for four years and I still find it pretty tough. If you think that there's an easy way of cutting through all the mathematical theorum, I'd love to hear it.

I would never do such a dreadful thing as to take an I.Q. test, but each to their own.

I didn't say or mean that game theory was easy to understand at an advanced level, but at the level we were talking about (and the level which you brought into this thread and were subsequently snarky about), it is.

This is great. I showed this thread to my Professor of Logic (he's actually a Professor of Philosophy, but he read Applied Mathematical Logic so I like to call him that). He finds Salopian fascinating.

"Tell me," he said, "Does this fellow ever admit when he's wrong or does he always descend into this pedantic reliance of his own perceived logic?" So I told him.

"Yes, thought so. And does he see himself as some kind of idealistic saviour of reason, regardless of how unpopular that makes him?" So I answered.

"Tell him that he probably shouldn't take an IQ test anyway - he'd be dreadfully disappointed - and that he should get out more."

Which is why I will now float serenely through these discussions without getting irked from now on.

There were a lot of great reviews this time, folks. Having said that, there is only so much snarkiness that one can take at a time. When it's not fun, then it's time to step back out. Cheers.

NO! whl PLEASE do not leave.

You're obviously trying (successfully) to offend me by calling me that, since in Britain it's only really a female name (the number of Salvatores being negligible).

I disappeared for a lot of last year to get away from the tedious, picky, and obnoxious idiots and grammar nazi's like you.

I have also left the site for large chunks of time, because of people like you (and, just to be clear, that means people including you), so we're perfectly balanced in that regard.

Nope, if we're talking purely logically then a person should submit an entry which conforms to the rules that all players are supposed to follow. By banging on about which version of the site people should use (as you frequently do), you are attempting to force an extra rule onto the game far more than I ever do despite certain people's attempts to present me as doing so.

What's the point in saying these posts are pointless anyway?

demonic Posted - 01/12/2009 : 00:05:05
There's a point to this post!

Oh, no... pointless, sorry.
