I posted this theme once before; let's do it again.

The idea is to post someone else's review that you think is the best for a film for which you currently have the unshared top spot.

Salopian, Bafta was probably just indirectly asking if there were some simple method by which she could identify a list of films.

No she wasn't. For one thing, she is extremely familiar with the site and so it is highly unlikely that she would really think there was a way to do that she had always been unaware of; for another thing, she would openly ask as that's just the (reasonable) way she does things. I don't know what their motivations were, but her and Josh's posts served no positive purpose. If they really wanted to for some reason announce that they weren't going to take part, they could have said "I can't off-hand think of any reviews of mine to post, but if I do I will, and in the meantime I've checked out all the links here." Amazingly, when there are threads in which reviewers can get votes for themselves, people find the time even if it means trawling through pages of their reviews.

Anyway, all I did in the first place was write a very light-hearted single line; B.B.'s the one who then felt the need to go into a detailed explanation of what a trauma it would be to find any examples.

Salopian, Bafta was probably just indirectly asking if there were some simple method by which she could identify a list of films. I saw no harm in that. There was no need to shit all over her.

Take your own advice: it would have been more courteous not to post at all.

That's a nice thing to say in a recession. Please don't call me dear again.

Even if he cannot copy a spelling from the title of the film...

So as a courtesy I posted a polite explanation of why I was't participating in your thread.

No one had said that you should participate, so it would have been more courteous not to post at all, as you put a bit of a downer on the thread and gave the false impression that cases for it are hard to find. It's not about trawling through for them -- they are just the sort of thing that one naturally sees and remembers when going around the site. There has been no implication that one should check all of one's top reviews.

Thanks Chocky, you're a star!

However, I'm not sure I don't prefer THESE reviews instead!

Larry's All That Jazz reviews are pretty good.

I also found Bafta's reviews for Adam's Rib and The Beaches to be funny.

Pope George Ringo's Sex Life of Jesus review is far more original than mine.

Yukon's Other Boleyn Girl reviews are no slackers, either.

And Whippersnappers reviews for The Prisoner of Zenda certainly deserve more attention than they've gotten so far.

Hello ...
Apparently, so say the stats, I have nearly 900 top reviews. I have not idea what they are nor how to go about finding them. And, if I did, I surely don't have the time to study them. Sorry.

I don't have that many but I to have no idea how to locate my reviews that have the highest number of votes for a film, without painstakingly looking thru all my reviews, and life is too short!

Obviously neither of you is too short of time to go around posting in threads just to announce that you're not going to participate in them!

Yeah ... let's see ... uhm, a few seconds to check out my fav website, a few seconds to type in a couple of sentences ... versus ... how many hours trawling through all my fwfrs just to i.d. 885 top-ies, then trawl through equivalent pages of fwfrs by others. Hmm ... tough equation.

Listen, honey, if I had the dosh I'd hire you as my secretary to do all that stuff for me. But I don't. So as a courtesy I posted a polite explanation of why I was't participating in your thread. But, hey, that's just me ... born polite, I guess. And perfect in every way. 'Cept when I'm not.

The only thing I regret more than having done this is now fessing up to all of you people. The reason? It's my #1.

My own top voted review is for Star Wars: A New Hope. In and of itself, I know it has inspired at least one other review. But what inspired mine?

"Vaporised Guinness likely story." with only 18 votes from Carnicus. This is clearly something you'd say in a pub and I think it's just perfect and deserves many more votes.
