Posted - 07/29/2009 : 15:25:18 After a mere 3 years my first review was accepted in August 06 I have today swapped my cigar for shades & become a movie star. Sunglasses are a superfluous accessory this summer in the UK but at least I've quit smoking.
I dont go in much for the self-publicizing activity hereabouts, & largely (I assume & hope) because of this my stats show a drastic reduction in average votes per review per annum as times gone on. In 06 the average is 5.19; in 07 it is 2.86; in 08 it is 1.45. Review votes so far this year look like some sort of binary sequence zeros interrupted by the occasional 1.
To try to reverse this slide before I go into minus numbers, & to celebrate hitting the 500, I will undertake to distribute that number of votes among people who visit my pages & have a look around & express a bit of approval here & there.
I suspect distributing this many votes will take me a while, but anyway: first come, first served.
Cheers.

Well, in bold contrast, I'd say I've seen all but 1/2 a dozen or so of the movies I've reviewed.
And BTW [matt], I was a little worried about your eyesight as well as your sanity...
Wow I can't believe you've seen that many!
Haha well you were right to be concerned about my eyesight - these aren't sunglasses, I've actually gone blind.

LAM is in the HASUAS! |

Posted - 08/06/2009 : 01:08:28 That's a very small percentage that you haven't seen then. I think my percentage of unseens is so high probably because I've reviewed quite a few obscure or pornographic films, which I obviously haven't watched.

Posted - 08/05/2009 : 17:02:22 You got me thinking - so I had a look at my reviews and worked out using the films I've not scored as a guideline that I've not seen almost exactly a fifth of the films I've reviewed (about 255 of 1248). Although to be fair 36 of those haven't been released yet. |

Ah, another man in shades.
Thank you very much. A s[matt]ering of votes will have appeared on your pages. I hope for the sake of your sanity you haven't actually watched too many of those obscure films.
Thank you kindly, fellow shades-wearer
No I haven't watched most of those obscure films! If fact, I'd say I haven't seen the majority of films I've reviewed. That might make an interesting stat: 'Percentage of films I've reviewed that I have actually seen.'

(And as this thread sinks into oblivion and is forgotten, your votes will live on!)

Posted - 08/05/2009 : 11:08:56 Yes. Good idea. Ive visited benjs reviews & used up my last batch of votes. Rounds things off neatly.
So, Im done. An interesting experience, one way or another. (Surprisingly hard to give votes away, for one thing I thought my hand would be bitten off.)
My averages have risen considerably & this thread can now sink into oblivion.
Cheers.

Posted - 08/05/2009 : 00:00:27 Good suggestion -- thanks. Plenty of clever, smile-inducing reviews there, easy to jettison a load of votes.
OK, one bestowal left.

Posted - 08/04/2009 : 21:18:36 May I suggest looking at Conan's page? He can't really be around too much at the moment, but he's a generous voter and so has probably already voted for more of your reviews than the average person and will likely give you a thorough visit when he can. |

Posted - 08/04/2009 : 14:40:27 Hey lamhasuas, I actually started hitting your reviews the other day and then had to leave quickly so forgot to finish the job! Just had a long perusal and distributed many more votes - you have tons of great reviews
As some of the others have said, the voting games are a good way to get votes, especially the FYCTH. Hope to see you there!

Posted - 08/04/2009 : 12:46:00 Well, this horse I'm flogging may not be dead yet but it's not looking very well...
I will, accordingly, put a deadline on this of midday, GMT, Friday 07/08/09.
I still have 98 votes to give away before I reach the 500 mark. Hit my reviews: I'll hit yours. |

Posted - 08/01/2009 : 10:30:51 I think I've got caught up on another bunch of your gemmiest-gems. I really liked your fwfr for Planet Terror: "Rodriguez: zomage."
And, echoing some of the above - get into some of the 4UM voting games ... you're bound to get the thumbs up!!
