Hi folks,
Benj and I originally called our interactive chapter "See movies at www.fwfr.com/theater" but the publisher wants a four-word pun/joke title that is similiar to our other chapter titles.
These are the films that are made before 1924 -- they are old, silent and B&W. They're not all obscure -- it was tough to find just obscure films so we added The Birth of a Nation, Nosferatu, and Gerat Train Robbery.
Any suggestions would be great. Everyone on this site is quite brilliant so we value your input. We have used some of your previous suggestions, such as " Some Four-Drawn Conclusions" for the Animation chapter. |

Ah, but Silent Movies often DID have words--displayed on placards, nicely calligraphed, explanatory, between scenes. |

Yukon said the films in this chapter are from before 1924 so they're "old, silent and B&W".
I thought he meant they are all old, silent AND B&W?

There was usually sound with most silent films, sometimes just someone following along with a piano. The more important the film, the more elaborate the accompaniment--full orchestra, FX, etc.
It just wasn't by way of a sound track on the film itself.
The point is that the audience's experience of most 'silent' films was not one of silence. |

Valentino. Keaton. Lloyd. Chaplin.
Or if they are, how about
Silents: Gone, Not Fourgotten. |
