Thanks, W.H.L. Much appreciated. As promised, I visited your reviews (all those that I had not seen in the Twelve Days of Christmas, in fact.)

AIRBOLT beat my percentage, but he/she didn't venture guesses on every category. I did win the Office Pool at my work. $25! Sweet!
Okay, we don't wager much, but it's still fun.

Thanks. I'll reciprocate when I get the chance - not just in thanks for the votes, but also for organising this thread. It has been interesting to see everyone's preferences.

These were my preferences. I was slightly higher on my actual predictions (54%), but not high enough to win the Oscar pool at the office.

It was an interesting night. I'm glad Alan Arkin won also, but I didn't expect he would. My real dark horse favorite in that category was Jackie Earle Haley. So glad to see nice things happening for him. It was a bit long, but since I love the awards shows, I still hated for it to end. Ellen DeGeneres is SUCH a better host than say, Sarah Silverman was at the Independent Spirit Awards. I wanted Forest Whitaker to win, but part of me also was pulling for Peter O'Toole. I think the real upset was when the already much awarded Pan's Labyrinth didn't take Best Foreign Film. It is a wonderful film. By the way, speaking of the Independent Spirit Awards, did anyone see it and know what nominated film Lorette Devine was singing about when she did the Beauty & the Beast/Beauty is Deceased song? I missed parts of it and couldn't decide which film it was.

The tallies are done. My sprinkling of votes will commence, but it may take me a few days to get them all done. Y'all did TOO good

1 - The Lives of Others - Germany

I had never heard of this before, but read a piece about it in the paper yesterday. Well, the piece was really about the Stasi in general, but it did make me really want to see the film and it did say that it was the first accurate film portrayal of the G.D.R.

We saw the trailer for this when we went to see The Queen. Looks very, very good, and it may just be the next film we go to see!

I am glad I was wrong about Cars (I wanted Happy Feet to win, but didn't think they'd give it to them) but at least I was right about Alan Arkin - it was wishful thinking and I see wishes sometimes DO come true!
