It broke at Comic Con San Diego that there will be a new Spock. A younger spock. Nimoy will still play Spock, But there will also be a younger Spock in the new Star Trek movie Produced by J.J. Abrams. Young Spock will be played by Zachary Quinto

I think Enterprise is the worst of the lot. I find Voyager interesting enough to watch on daytime reruns while I eat lunch or whatever, but it didn't intrigue me enough when it was current that I made an effort to see it the way I do Battlestar Galactica. (Until Tricia Helfer came along as Six in BSG, I thought Jeri Ryan as 7of9 was the most beautiful woman on TV.)

Personally, I think DS9 was the best of them all. I saw hardly any of the eps while it was current, but I enjoy the reruns very much. I enjoy the way it brings faith and religion into a mix with science. I found the main characters likeable.

Voyager started out a little weak, but then again, so did TNG and that became the crowning jewel of the franchise. It got a lot better as the actors become more comfortable with their characters. But then, about halfway through its run, just as those characters had started to become very developed, they were all pushed aside and VOY became "The Janeway and 7 Show." See what Robert Beltran (Chakotay) has to say about that.

DS9 was interesting but it was without a doubt the black sheep of the franchise. Most of Star Trek is about "the human condition," as the point is constantly driven home that deep down these people are just like us despite the fantastic advances in the world around them. But beyond that, it's about Roddenberry's personal vision of the wonders that await us in this futuristic Utopian Socialist society that he seemed to truly believe is going to come about some day. They have problems, of course, but by the end of the episode, good triumphs over evil. It always does.

DS9 as a series was far removed from this. DS9 is about war, conflict, and danger. Lengthy story arcs (also unique to this show) took us through the Dominion threat, the Federation losing a key ally (Klingons) and being dragged into a senseless war with them, a main character suffering from a horrible and deadly illness, a secret organization within our "progressive" democracy that created that illness as an act of genocide, a civilization's spiritual leader committing acts of violence to satisfy her lust for power, that same spiritual leader blindly taking her "children" down the path to evil and destruction because of her own lack of faith, the tyrant that drove her to do it and his alarming descent into madness, etc.

Did the influence of Ira Steven Behr make DS9 better or worse than it otherwise might have been? That's for viewers to decide for themselves. But was it consistent with The Great Bird of the Galaxy's idea of what Star Trek was supposed to be about? Not really, I think.

I'll tell you this much, though: I absolutely hated all the Mirror Universe episodes.

I sure will, but I'm only meeting his mum, not AC. She's in town for a few days before she takes the train to Toronto.

Nope, I've seen the lad in person, and there's definitely a faint resemblance, as much as from Quinto to Nimoy. AC is much better looking, though...

Agreed. Totally boring.

Okay, I may be a woman, so my opinion may not count, but I don't think that Helfer is as beautiful as Ryan. Helfer is far too thin, her nose is too long and wide for her face, and her chin too long and pointy. Since I never watched BSG, I can't tell if she's a good actress or not, but Jeri Ryan was very impresive as 7of9 and I've been enjoying watching her on "Shark". If they ever re-re-do "Dark Shadows" she'd be the perfect Angelique.

I never got into DS9, since it missed some of the wit and humour some of the others had.

WIth technology today, couldnt they just have old clips of him and just put in new words?

I would rather dive head first into a pool of my own vomit than see Scotty turned into Livia Soprano.

Maybe they'll get Billy Connolly to do Scotty's part?

I can't help thinking of the early scene in Heroes when Hiro is being hauled away by his Boss.

His friend shouts " Use Death-Grip-U Spock! "

Why not just do what Francis Coppola did when he couldn't re-book the actor for GODFATHER II: "He's dead, Jim." Easy as pie.

Funny, but sad

Star Wars made a mistake adding Jar-Jar to get younger fans to watch. I hope Star Trek doesnt make the same mistake. Adding Sylar from Heroes was a big play for Star Trek.

I really liked the Voyager series too. I thought that was garnering a young audience?

Since the franchise's high water mark with TNG, every series has gotten lower ratings than the one before. The audience has SHRUNK with each show, not grown.
