O.K., any recommendations for tonight?

That was good, more for the interesting story that the film itself, although that has been put together mostly fine. (One piece of information is revealed in a really bizarre, and I can only imagine unplanned, way.) Well worth seeing.

(B.B., no idea whether Elliott is still organising the festival.)

Yep, I recommend them too.

I was confused about Up at Lou's Fish - that was on too early. So I have just seen Kenny (gently heart-warming as expected, though the nachos were a mistake) and am about to see Tovarisch.

If you haven't seen The Lives of Others directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and Snow Cake with Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver, I highly recommend both of them.

Thanks, B.B. I definitely feel like seeing at least one of them now. (Will have to see whether they overlap - may see both.)

Tovarisch, I Am Not Dead

From what I know of these documentaries - no spoilers - it will depend on your mood.

The first directed by the guy's son will probably tug your heartstrings and leave you with renewed faith in humanity.

The second - remember when Billingsgate was transferred to Canary Wharf? -- this is an equivalent NYC event, recording reactions of da peepol.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to see the Kingdom if we can swing a baby sitter - I am developing a real fondness for Peter Brg directed films.

B.B., I think I'll go with your suggestion. I had been planning to see The Sound of Music, but I'm exhausted and it's three hours till half ten as opposed to an hour and a half till half eight. I also think I ought to see Manufacturing Dissent. Plus, I have just looked at the Raindance website and see that my hero Noam Chomsky is in it. (I haven't read his political stuff, although he seems in the right from what I know of it, but he's the linguist of all time.)

Talking of Raindance, does anyone have any recommendations for me to see? There was much more that I wanted to see last year. There oddly seem to be several Serbian films, so I'll probably see one of them, after my recent visit there. Like last year, I'm unfortunately away in the middle (Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th), so I cannot see anything that is only on then.

I'm afraid I'm not in the mood for either. We may watch Don Juan deMarco, or perhaps we'll just put on some recorded episods of shows we don't get around to usually. We've got a bunch of first episodes of new seasons recorded, including the 7th season of "Gilmore Girls".

(Yeah, I know, but my men think the girls are hot and that Scott Patterson is my eye candy!)
