P.S. Thanks to B.B. for not calling it The London Times. That is even more annoying that the aforementioned "London, England".

Also an easy one.

I'm with you there, even though I do like My Fair Lady. Bill and Ted is just infinitely watchable (well, almost) and has so much energy. Reeves is great in it: it's just that his stoner vibe hasn't usually worked so well since he has had to play a grown-up (although it does in A Scanner Darkly and, indeed, The Matrix).

There Will Be Blood at second place is highly suspect.

I'm not sure what the appeal is for Alien. I love the effects, but the story is paper thin (Jaws in space).

Also, I understand that I am in the minority on A Streetcar Named Desire. I respect how the directing and acting style was ahead of its time, but I never found the story to be particularly compelling. On the Waterfront holds up a lot better.

Cabaret failed for me because I didn't feel like it was a realistic portrayal of (or even a very interesting comment on) the rise of the Nazis in Berlin. Again, I seem to be in the minority here.

A few missing from the list: Citizen Kane, Forrest Gump, Pinocchio, Schindler's List ...

Of course, I prefer mahogany or oak, but at least he's better than pine.

I draw your attention to The Mahogany Oscar accolade. It's been around for a while but only Randall has achieved it.

I'm with you there.

(Except that I don't like Reeves.)

The thing that I find irritating about these kinds of lists is... where's the actual list?

All I see is 10+ pages of waffle that I've no interest in reading.

Although if they supplied a list then they wouldn't be able to ram 10 pages of ads down readers' throats.

Or did I miss something?

Dracula ........... or ........... Breakfast at Tiffany's ??

Okay, yeah, that's an easy one. Breakfast at Tiffany's is easily my favorite Hepburn movie and Hepburn performance. In Dracula, Reeves seems to be intentionally cast for his lameness as a contrast to Oldman as Dracula, but even so he was lamer than he should have been. And of course his British accent was awful.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure ........... or ........... My Fair Lady ??

Also an easy one. Bill & Ted is a delight from beginning to end and My Fair Lady is close to unwatchable. Terrible music, terrible acting (on the part of both leads), unimpressive singing, unromantic, hopelessly stiff direction, overlong, and let's not forget ungodly boring. And seriously, let's not hold any illusions about Ms. Hepburn's accent either.

I like Sabrina and I like Breakfast at Tiffany's, and I like Hepburn in them, and Keanu has a lot of bad movies. But do I prefer The Matrix, Point Break or My Own Private Idaho over Charade, Wait Until Dark or Roman Holiday? Yes, absolutely.

Hmmm... let me see...

Dracula ........... or ........... Breakfast at Tiffany's ??

Johnny Mnemonic ........... or ........... Roman Holiday ??

Sweet November ........... or ........... Sabrina ??

Constantine ........... or ........... Wait Until Dark ??

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure ........... or ........... My Fair Lady ??

Oh, you're right. It's SO hard to decide.

Keanu could never hope to have Audrey Hepburn's beauty or her aura of grace and class. But I certainly don't think she was any less wooden than dear Keanu.

I guess this proves that any idiot can make a list.

I think you really should change your name to MisterNoIdea.

I have been talking about this list with a few people today - it's meant to raise a few watercooler debates, that's all. Some of the choices are truly bizarre, such as The Towering Bloody Inferno! I mean, everyone knows The Poseidon Adventure is infinitely better.
