Posted - 09/01/2008 : 19:46:28 Dear dear Ken - truly one of the true originals. I was privileged to know him way back in the late 60s when we both ran theatre companies that toured around the UK and Europe.
I think his great genius was at least partly due to his courage in resisting self-censorship. It meant he could carry out some outrageous pranks - such as circulating letters that the Royal Shakespeare Company was being renamed as The Royal Dicken Company, after the company had staged a series of Dickens dramatizations. But it also meant his theatrical performances were like no others in concept, style and execution.
