Posted - 02/23/2010 : 14:04:51 Well, I have to say I'm glad that Fish Tank won for Outstanding British Film. Not that I have much to go on since I didn't see any of the others, but I did see Fish Tank and thought it was really a very good film - excellent acting from both the two girls, and that scene where Mia dances with her mother - just perfect! |

I thought the Hurt Locker was ordinary actually, so I'm a little taken aback by all the awards fuss that's surrounded it since release. It's not an especially good character portrait, in that the subject it covers has been done a lot, and I didn't find it very exciting because I couldn't give a hoot about the protagonist. His actions were stupid and selfish and seemed to smell of screenwriting for dramatic effect rather than actual real behaviour. See what you think.
Yup! Here's my take on it from several page posts ago.

I saw Avatar immediately before the awards and so was still buzzing from it, but I think you're probably right.
I wanted Gabourey Sidibe to win, though, despite my reservations about Precious. |

Salopian, The Hurt Locker IMDb score is 8, which according to my criteria suggests it's pretty good. I haven't seen any trailers but tend to not trust trailers at all. |

Posted - 02/21/2010 : 23:38:43 Is The Hurt Locker a lot better than it looks? All the clips they showed tonight made it look as dull as dishwater. |
