Posted - 05/16/2011 : 17:53:12 This started as a Netflix-centric note. I apologize in advance for my ignorance of any DVD subscription rental service in your area.
Netflix has changed the way they receive requests for films to be added to their catalog. This used to be an online feature. It is now handled as a phone call. I am not sure if it works this way outside of the U.S. - I gather Netflix is set up for streaming in Europe but I don't know if they have a hotline you can call.
I had a nice call today. When I click on "contact us" I get a six digit code along with the toll free #, so your account info comes up as soon as you put this in. Unlike every other company, I didn't have to punch it in and then repeat the code to the support staffer - they just asked for my name. Once I asked for my film, they asked if there were any others - wonderful.
I think we can be an effective team to get films added to Netflix or other services more quickly. I am exposed to many interesting films through my participation here. I would be happy to make a call on behalf of others here for films you don't see in the Netflix catalog.
The same approach could be done for Amazon, Lovefilm, and possibly Hulu.
Please chime in if you subscribe to these or other services and would like to participate. |
