Posted - 01/06/2012 : 18:26:16 I'm not going to be able to tell you who's on the long-list and whom I voted for, but I can say the following:
The long-list is by and large 12 selections in each category winnowed down by all Bafta voters from the many hundreds of films released in 2011. The next round [3rd] will be the short-list, calculated in a couple of weeks. We'll vote, but the winners will only be announced at the actual ceremony. We did vote for Best Documentary, but the next round will only be voted by the Specialist Documentary Chapter.
I was somewhat disappointed about some of the films not on the long-list, and the sad predictibility of some of the choices that made it through. Some unpopular people seem to be being punished, even though their work may be superb. What a shame.
I'll say how many of my choices coincided with the long-list
The categories are: Best Film - 5/12 Outstanding British Film - 4/12 Best Film Not in English - 7/12 Animated Film - 2/5 Best Director - 7/12 Best Original Screenplay - 4/12 Best Adapted Screenplay - 6/12 Best Cinematography - 6/12 Best Editing - 6/12 Best Visual Effects - 4/11 Best Production Design - 6/12 Best Costume Design - 4/12 Best Hair & Make-Up - 5/12 Best Original Music - 4/12 Best Sound - abstained Best Actor - 6/12 Best Actress - 7/12 Best Supporting Actor - 4/12 Best Supporting Actress -3/12
I'll keep you posted about the next stage.
