I can imagine Will Ferrell going on some late-night talk show, and the hosts asks, "Is it funny?", to which Will has to say, "Uh, yeahhhh," with the fall and rise of modulation which lets you know it's a hard question.
You do laugh -- a lot -- but it is not a "Will Ferrell comedy," and those who expect, say, OLD SCHOOL will be disappointed. Dustin Hoffman is sublime, as is Emma Thompson, who would star in a Randall Babe-Fest if I ever did those kinds of accolades. Fingers crossed for this nice, quiet good job. |

I dislike him most of the time, and don't find him very funny when I'm not disliking him. But I like Hoffman and Thompson... Hm...
