Just when you were convinced you never would be ... this is the kind of film that makes you nostalgic for The Fockers.

Well, I guess if you're going to achieve your 15 minutes of fame by coming into a pie there ain't a lot of roles which most casting directors are going to push you for. Jason Biggs takes the lead in this you-should-excuse-the-expression comedy as a young man hoping for the girl of his dreams.

The fact that the distributors have chosen to release the film under its third title incarnation means, I suspect, that not only did it flunk its first release test as The Pleasure of Your Company, another theatrical and/or vid release as The Next Girl I See -- but it's making one last feeble effort on the international circuit to recoup some of its costs. I doubt it will succeed.

Biggs is niether a good enough actor, attractive enough, charming enough, or outrageous enough to sustain a rom-com lead. His screen partner Isla Fisher from Wedding Crashers and I Heart Huckabees just might be, but the script gives her little chance to show it apart from using her as a foil for what should have been Jason's wit but which is mostly just one embarrassment after another.

The social unease stretches to scenes involving sexually obsessed parents and gay policemen ... both perfectly fine subjects, just not treated - as they are here - as excuses for cheap gags.

All I can say is, if this is some tribute to marriage, vive la divorce!
