Today is, if you believe this sort of thing and aren't Asian and thus deathly afraid of the Number 4, the unluckiest day of the year.

So I was thinking about movies where luck, good or ill, plays an important role. Movies about gambling, obviously, like "The Music of Chance", "Honeymoon in Vegas", "Rounders", "The Hustler", "The Color of Money", etc...

Any other ideas?

There are 41 films in my Dealer's Choice accolade featuring card games, and gambling. Ante up!

Any kind of gambling? If so, how come that accolade doesn't include Guys and Dolls? Also Bells are Ringing incudes a whole thing about horserace gambling (taking bets over Sue's Answer Phone).

No, didn't express myself very well -- I meant the acc deals [PUN] with cards and some of those [card] films include gambling. The acc is specific to cards.

Sorry for the confusion.

How about Sliding Doors? What kind of luck to find out the truth about her boyfriend - good or bad?

Just My Luck is just about luck - no gambling involved.

The most obvious ones that spring to mind are...

The Cooler
Intacto
Indecent Proposal
Serendipity (?)

And I have to wonder... do The Hustler and The Color of Money count? Surely pool is a game of skill not luck?

It's bad luck to have bad luck.
