Just got back from a night in front of yellow people. No spoilers from me, I'd just like to say I really enjoyed it. Like a lot of movies of this type, there are some great references to other movies, plus a fair number of proper laugh-out-loud gags.

In my defence, I'm only a part time Simpsons watcher, not a huge fan. This was a very good effort from the whole family.

The review makes a direct point of Homer's losing his job when in actual fact he doesn't (his job is not even mentioned in the film - as far as the film is concerned, he might not even have a job). Had the review read, "Pollution costs Homer Everything," that would have been fine. I'd still deem Josh's review, in its current state, inaccurate.

I still think it's too specific a thing to mention when it's not actually shown/indicated in the film. Also, it's more like he quits by default, which isn't the same as losing his job anyway.

Uhm ... just because you murder your granny doesn't mean you haven't lost her.

Just saying ...

Have I forgotten something? Homer doesn't lose his job, does he?

If he still had a job, working and living among a townful of vengence, he'd never be able to flee and there'd be no 'middle eight' of a plotline. So, he does lose his job in the wider sense of the word.

The Simpsons Movie (Please could people always add a link to the page whenever they start a thread about a film?)

Or at least a link to its IMDb page?

The page here would be better since one can also access the I.M.D.B. page from there.

I get the feeling that foxy wrote those reviews when the film was still in 'concept' phase, and the proposed storyline at the time involved Marge getting prgnant.

That was never a proposed storyline. I am not sure, but I think I added the film to the site just after the first teaser, at which point the flick was well past the concept/development stages, anyway.

I mentioned this on another thread, too, but many, MANY of the reviews for The Simpsons Movie are inaccurate.

Edit: And going over them once more, all but one of the inaccurate reviews belong to thefoxboy. Shame on you!

(The other one belongs to Josh The Cat)

Always a danger when writing reviews for films that haven't yet been released - they turn out to be inaccurate when the film is released

Yeah -- and considering both tfb and jtc's avatars, I'm guessing babies were on their minds

But perhaps all those inaccurate FWFRs might be deleted by their owners to provide better role models for newbies.

I suppose -- she suggested sweetly -- that if people are determined to write reviews so long b4 films are actually released, they might remain in a [different kind of] pending pile b4 they're approved. Just a thought ...

Uhm ... actually -- unless JTC's inaccurate FWFR has already been removed -- his seems perfectly fine to me. Apologies JTC.

Some laugh out loud gags such as Homer's view " More than two shakes..."
ChocolateLady Posted - 07/30/2007 : 06:22:17
The TV show is a big hit here and this movie is in the theatres here, but I've never been much of a fan myself. I could send the kids to see it, but I've heard mixed things about it.

Just got back from this myself. I'm a Simpsons fan and was not dissapointed even though I was half prepared to be so. It shot by like a half hour episode and it's a while since I've heard an audience laugh out loud at the cinema.

It turns out you can teach an old plot new jokes.
