I thought I'd give some good word of mouth to a movie I just came back from seeing called In the Shadow of the Moon. It is a documentary about the Apollo missions now in a limited theatrical release in the United States. According to IMDb, it will be playing later this year in the UK and early next year in Australia.

Its very rare that a film moves me to tears and even rarer that a film moves me to tears of happiness and pride. By the time the lights went on, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Most of you are pretty well-informed, so you probably won't learn any new facts about space exploration from this movie, but this isn't a technical/scientific movie. Its an extremely emotional, sometimes spiritual, retelling of the Apollo missions (with special emphasis on Apollo 11) told through interviews of the 5 surviving astronauts from the period and through beautiful and humbling film and television footage taken from the voyages and from the period. The message is that the human race is capable of fulfilling its own dreams and that the Earth is "the Garden of Eden," as one astronaut put it, and we often don't recognize it. Highly recommended.
