A must read for anyone with an interest in Japanese culture, or if you just simply enjoy a well told and exciting story. Samurai are tough cookies!
James Clavell is excellent. I can't think of any duds among them.

I saw the TV series about 25 years ago. I remember liking it at the time, but wasn't too choosy back then. I think it's pretty decent.

Yes, well, back then Richard Chamberlain was pretty hot for these types of things. I'm sure it helped get him the Thorn Birds gig.

I've got 'Tai-Pan' now, it's next on my to read list. For those who don't know, it's 241 years on from "Shogun' and the series goes all the way to 1980's Japan. I was quite sad to see the end of Anjin-san though.

Pretty overrated book it's based on as well in case you're tempted.

If only that were the only problem with the film.

I've currently given it 2/5, but it may have to come down to 1/5. Not a single redeeming feature springs to mind. Well, I suppose we do get to see some beautiful Japanese (or pretend Japanese, I don't know which) scenery.

Course it is. Keira's in it trying to be an actress again.
