Posted - 05/09/2008 : 15:35:30 Yes , I know the third one has been out for ever but I only got around to watching it yesterday.
Or at least part of it. It was just too loooong. It had long periods of " so what " , the plot was impenetrable, alliances kept shifting and every now and again a CGI showstopper turns up. In the end a hollow exercise.
What sank it for me was the mean spirited nature of some of the film . Jack Sparrow was shown as a lovable rogue in the first, then in the second is prepared to sacrifice Will to save his skin. By the third film almost all the fun and humanity appears to have drained from the characters - the comic moments are few and far between . in the end you just dont care who lives and who dies. By the time of the whirlpool fight i had enough and hit stop.
Even the actors looked shamefaced as if they knew they were just keeping their Bank managers happy. |

This is exactly how I saw the Spiderman series, I'd describe S3 in exactly the same way.
I liked POTC, was bored enough by POTC2 that I never bothered with POTC3. |
