Posted - 04/06/2009 : 19:02:02 Really enjoyed this movie. Had very little expectation going in other than it was well reviewed by Rotten Tomatoes scale. I am not a fan of Superbad, so no expectations there, either. From what I understand its a very different movie anyway.
Anyway, it's smart and funny. It explores well travelled terrain, but is very well constructed and talks a lot about life and archetypes people inevitably resemble. The movie tells the story of a recent college graduate who has to take a job at a crappy amusement park after his family runs into financial problems. It's set in 1987 and does a great job resurrecting that time frame from hair and fashion to music and cars.
It's not a laugh-a-minute, but it is very funny and has stayed with me a few days later. High recommend from me. |
