Accidentally stumbled onto the identity of a character actor who has a distinctive face, and finally put a name with the face: John Saxon.

I always thought he was a scary looking dude. He looks like he would quickly, efficiently and dispassionately skin you alive.

When he was younger, he reminded me of Reggie Mantle of the Archie comic strip.

And lest we forget the splendid villain Sador (he's like... sadistic!) in the Seven Samurai 'homage' - "Battle Beyond the Stars". Great stuff.
