I know that when you get your popcorn movie on, you aren't asking for anything too deep or meaningful. You want action with all the explosions, cars, guns and optional extras. However, it is all just a showreel for the VFX and stunt departments unless the characters are ( slightly ) believable and the plot has only mildly huge plot holes.

I present to the Court of FWFR the exampler of "Fast and Furious". This is what the public go for and the Box office was impressive. However, the prosecution would like to object in the strongest terms to the HUGE plot hole in this movie. Vin Diesel plays Toretto who is wanted by Law enforcement everywhere. This guy has a rep! His feisty-ish girlfriend pleads with him to avoid the robberies so he leaves her. SPOILER AHEAD IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE FILM******************
She turns up dead

A little later , the fast but bald Diesel seeks to get the same Kingpin that done him wrong. Accompanied by a large piece of wood ( er, that's Paul Walker - Ed )he joins up with the Kingpin. Yes...as Toretto! Not even under an assumed identity. No one in the Kingpins organisation even goes near a laptop to check things out.
" Er, Jefe...that Toretto guy we hired...turns out we killed his girlfriend. Might be worth shooting him now"

Just what sort of organisation is the Kingpin running anyway?. Maybe all his guys are brain-dead after the weeks spent building the CGI mine tunnels on the border ( he he this part was like watching someone else play Need for Speed! )

It's a popcorn movie not "The Cherry Orchard" - this however was just
a plot hole too many!

I rest my case and hope Justin Lim gets the maximum sentence available!

Wow, that's like a plot hole you could drive a mustang through!

But to be fair, Bond (almost) always uses his name, too. It's like flipping your nose at the bad guys to see how bad they want to catch you.

Oh - there I go, I compared Vin Diesel to James Bond. Ruh-roh.

I'd feel better if people didn't actually enjoy these movies though. Stupid people making stupid films for more stupid people isn't encouraging for the future of our entertainment industry. Wes Craven plopped his screenplay for THHE2 down on an executive's desk and probably said "it's total shit, but it'll make you a few bucks off the success of the last remake you crapped out last year - kids will pay to see anything as long as a girl gets raped and a mutant gets an axe in the head" and they laughed all the way to the bank.

Ah, what the hell. I'll sit down and write THHE3 and make a packet.

Yes, you've convinced me Airbolt - I assumed "Fast and the Furious" was a stupid, shit movie I shouldn't bother to watch. You've confirmed my suspicions.

Where were you though when I started watching the "The Hills Have Eyes II" remake an hour and a half ago? I expected that to be badly written, directed and acted, derivative, excessively violent, vacously unpleasant, stupid and repellent. And it was. What a waste of their money and my life.

Next time you're tempted remember those wasted minutes!

Hey,if no one went to see shit films then Hollywood would grind to a halt! Mark Dascasos would be walking the streets and Whip Hubley would be on food stamps. Paul Walker would have to return home to the forest and Megan Fox would be reduced to appearing semi-naked in mens mags ( she does that already - Ed )
