a good film, but not the swashbuckling fun i want from a Robin Hood film. i liked it better when it was called "Braveheart."
i'm off to the video store to look for the Patrick Bergin and Disney versions.

just caught the Bergin "Robin Hood" on Fox Movie Channel! woo-hoo!

Anything is better than Prince of Thieves!

Robin Hood

To start with, I found it really cringeworthy, especially Crowe's accent and a lot of the vocabulary. However it does get a lot better and is certainly preferable to Prince of Thieves.

Sorry that this isn't as good as you'd hoped. I had my doubts from the trailers.

Say, did the British TV series run over in the US? The first season was great, the second one was... okay, and I watched most of those, but paid less attention. The third one was just stupid and I only watched one or two episodes before giving up on it totally.

Strangest thing about this latest TV series is that one of the bad guys (Guy of Gisborne) is far sexier than Robin, and I cannot for the life of me understand why Maid Marion goes for the skinny, wimpy Robin instead of the brooding, hunky Guy. Especially during the second season when Guy starts to stand up against the Sheriff.

Still, if you ever get to see the first season, do watch it - it is well worth it.
