OMFG!

There's quite a stylish opening credit conceit - namely clips from each & every classroom/teacher based film ever made in this universe or the next.

And then, they go and spoil it with this drek of a film. It doesn't even work on its own terms - and the forced manipulations and pretzel twists it follows to make its The End dreams come true, requires such a lashing, bashing of the US education system, its incompetency and corruption - well, honestly if Cam Diaz really had such power I reckon she'd be PrezDiaz.

If you must see this crap - at least wait till it plays on telly. Preferably on another planet.

I didn't find the script predictable at all -- in fact, I was surprised and pleased that it avoided the cliched "hugging and learning" climax you'd expect from a movie like this. Diaz is great being bad, but what really sells the picture is her unerring co-stars, especially a career-making turn by Lucy Punch, a Brit who does a swell American accent and has Lucille Ball-like physical comedy chops. Also Jason Segal, John Michael Higgins, and Justin Timberlake, who is having great fun playing against type and satirizing his own career.

Yes, it's a "high concept," but it kept me watching and laughing the whole time. It's a perfect bookend to BRIDESMAIDS -- girls acting out was definitely the new comic trend last year.

Having over 18 hours of flight time lets you watch quite a few movies. This was another one I got and well, to be totally honest, it could have been worse, although I'm not sure how. Unlikable characters and a predictable script didn't help. Mind you, Jason Segel steals every scene he's in, and his are the only lines that make you laugh. Either he was given the best part or he just ignored the script and the director and played it the way he knew it would work. One way or another, his part did work and was funny. Otherwise, this would have been totally unwatchable.
