I was looking through showtimes last week and saw that "Creature" playing locally. Funny, I had never even heard of it. My first thoughts: an end of summer, scary movie that was dumped just to get it off the shelves, where it probably collected dust for months. So, I bounced over to IMDB. Let's seeee ... "Rated R for bloody violence and grisly images, some sexual content, graphic nudity, language and brief drug use" and starring Sid Haig. I'm in.
It was awful, just as I expected, but fun. If I didn't know who Haig was, since everyone else was unknown to me, I might have thought it had been on the shelf since the 80s. It was kind of like "Humanoids from the Deep," set in a swamp. If you like that kind of stuff, it's a b-movie good time, complete with offensive stereotypes. And like I've written here before, I'd rather a film be memorably bad than forgettable. Most would probably do well to avoid it, and it's already gone from the one theater that was showing it here, but I had to share.
