Posted - 06/29/2007 : 08:30:40 Greetings FWFR Gang!
I'd like to do an accolade, but it will depend on everyone's help. It will be called The Raspberry and I can promise a lovely [and moving] trophy.
I readily admit this one's inspired by a recent post about worst films. So the gist is: Can you please suggest ONE and ONE ONLY of your particularly worst ever films. It needn't be the VERY worst, only one you'd place on your own particular list.
Actually I've been thinking of a way to include you all in one of my accolades, and I hope this will entice you.
BIG THANKS in advance for all your help.

I don't know if you're still accepting movies for this accolade. The s***-disturber in me wants to nominate The Godfather just for the heck of it , but I got beaten up so badly on a different thread regarding that film, and I have no wish to go through that again. Films I love to hate?? It's a brilliant idea; we've all seen bad movies, but some bad movies are sort of watchable in spite of or because of their inherent badness....but one that I could not bring myself to watch again? Ever? Or I could only watch it as long as I can scream at the TV how bad it is? One that fills me with loathing just at the thought of it?? Only One?? For me it would have to have no redeeming features whatsoever, which rules out two from your accolade; The Avengers and Batman and Robin because although they are both truly awful, they both feature Uma Thurman dressed in her figure-hugging best...I sat through Even Cowgirls Get the Blues and those ridiculous thumbs for a similar reason. So I thought a long time about this, and although I'd love to nominate Top Gun and Officer and a Gentleman and even cheese like They Live, instead I've opted for Happiness, which I thought was a ssub-par Magnolia, which itself is a sub-par Short Cuts
Thank you ... Happiness is doomed

I'll go with Rocky IV. That's the one where Rocky takes on the Russian. I'm still stunned at the final scene where Rocky is fighting the commie in Russia, yet the crowd is chanting "ROCKY! ROCKY!" It's American jingoism at its worse.
And to show how opinions differ, Runaway Train is one of my favourite movies. I gave it 6/5.
It will be added soon-ish. As to varying tastes -- well, that's kinda the key to this accolade

I'll go with the one listed above Being...
A horrid film, and I understand that I may upset or annoy some but opinion is a personal thing.
The trip is over and I loved meeting up with Conan and thefoxboy, both were fun friendly and entertaining, they made us really welcome to Oz.

OK, JTC -- in it goes! and Welcome Home!

Meow! JTC!!! Welcome to the thread ... but I'm afraid you're going to have to choose one of these you have dubbed turkeys. It's for my accolade and everyone gets to contribute one film. So - tough as you may find it - please make your choice!
Meanwhile, it was great to see the photo of you with those southern hemi fwfrers! Hope your trip is progressing nicely and send my regards to WAC and the missus. xx

My personal, least favorite all-time film is 'Blues Brothers 2000', but maybe that's too obvious.
I've only read a couple pages of posts to this thread, so hopefully this isn't a repeat. If it is, perhaps 'Mixed Nuts' would fill the bill. I watched it this afternoon and found myself wishing Nora Ephron had never been conceived. Interesting accolade concept...
Welcome CankleFetish and glad you like the Acc! Blues Brothers 2000 will go in pronto, and thanks for your contribution. I hope you'll take the challenge and have fun achieving it.

I am late coming to this thread but I have to nominate this pile of crud, the story is garbage and the acting is non-existent!
This "film" I actually hated and along with 3 mates we left with 1/2 and hour to go before the end, it is the only movie I have ever done that to.
Ant finally this piece of junk, I understand that I am probably misunderstanding a piece of genius but to me it is just awful, sorry.

Oh choices choices. I rate "The English Patient" very highly and it saddens me a little to hear that people hate it that much, but each to their own I suppose. It makes me feel better that I can nominate "Armageddon" into the shit list, as the film that's probably as bad as "Independence Day". "Dreamcatcher" came very close, but smug old Bruce saving the world pips it for me. The mere mention of that film makes me gag.
Armageddon, Armageddon, Armageddon
How are you feeling |
