Hi Benj

Nothing urgent, and certainly NOT a complaint --

but because the topic comes up regularly [and without revealing anything about the approval process], would it be very complicated for films to be assessed by the order of their 1st submission?

I can see it gets more complicated for 2nd submissions.

I quite accept if you have non-tekkie reasons for not doing it that way, and, honestly I don't even want to know what they are. Just wondering, though, whether it's possible.

Many thanks and sorry to bother you on your world tour. Meanwhile, here's some unusual banjo music

This should releave some of Benj's post-honeymoon backlog, hopefully without overly taxing the MERPs. If my assumption is wrong, please let me know and I won't do it again. But if my assumption is right, then others might want to do the same. It also gives us an opportunity to see what other reviews were accepted for those movies, and make sure our submission isn't a duplicate or too similar to another one.

I would think this would mean that your reviews would be processed more quickly, but there is the risk that they will be rejected as duplicates when they actually came first.

It makes no difference for Benj/the MERPs, though. It used to be that only Benj processed second passes, but that is not the case now.

My first submissions have for quite a while now been processed in chronological order, such that for some time literally all my second passes have been older than all my first passes. It didn't use to be like that. Surely this cannot just be for me? I agree though that MERPs should prioritise processing reviews for films with which they are familiar.

(Well, I thought it was a good idea.)

Just some thoughts, but I'd guess this is very difficult as MERPs will surely be more inclined to consider films with which they are familiar, as they'll get more reviews processed that way. Also some reviews will go through when two MERPs agree, others will have MERPs disagreeing and will need a third opinion so its gonna take longer. Last thing I can think of is MERPs often do a pile of reviews for one film at the same time. This means they have to wait for the pile to build up a bit first, so some will get considered much quicker than others, just as some people wait less time at the bus stop than others.

Simple things can get complicated!

I'd favour waiting until Benj gets back to good old Blighty before worrying about changes to the system. Give the guy a break, whydontcha?

Well, only what others have experienced where there are reviews in the pending pile that have been there for yonks but they never seem to get processed -- [i.e. neither approved nor declined], and sometimes they sit there preventing, say, the achievement of an accolade ... or they just sit there. Meanwhile, other submissions seem to get processed extremely quickly, or relatively quickly, or at least way before these others. Which just sit there. For a looooooong time. As others have noted. Say, for months and months and months.

So ... I repeat ... this is not a complaint. Just a question. You know, is it possible to process the reviews by the ones that have been sitting there the longest first ... or in the order in which they were submitted.

No biggie ... but thanks for your concern.
