Greetings FWFRers

I'm compiling another of my adorable accolades - this one features actors [or animated characters]who do impersonations of other well-known actors. These are NOT bio-pics - but the character doing an impression of another real-live actor. It can be just a line or two.

Here's my list so far, but I'm sure there must be others I'm forgetting:
Keeping The Faith - Ed Norton does Dustin Hoffman in Rainman.
Aladdin - Robin Williams as the Genie does Jack Nicholson and Rodney Dangerfield.
In Bugs Bunny Rides Again, Bugs does both Danny Kaye and Gary Cooper.
In On The Double Danny Kaye does Marlene Dietrich.
In Maple Palm, two characters do impersonations: Nicole does Mae West, and Billy does Burt Lahr as the Cowardly Lion.
Olive Oyl also does Mae West in A Wolf in Sheikh's Clothing.
Porky Pig's Five and Ten features fish doing Mae West and Laurel and Hardy.

I was going to include Mario Montez as Harlot doing Jean Harlow - but that's really his character so I don't think that counts.

Can anyone think of any more?
BIT THANX IN ADVANCE

Hold on - what about Good Morning, Vietnam where Robin Williams impersonates lots of people for his radio show.

By the way, there's a Christmas Carol movie where Rich Little does all the characters using his impersonations of different famous personalities. That should be perfect for this accolade.

Yes and Yes!!! Big thanks, CL -- these will definitely go in!

Just checking - so they cannot be doing an impression of themselves? (Julia Roberts's character in Ocean's Twelve etc.)

Ooh, I forgot about that - scene with Bruce Willis, yeah? I guess that would have to count since her character is Tess. Post-modern silliness, but it fits the acc.
Many thanks, Sal!

Hmm ... now I'm wondering whether Bruce W's cameo in Nancy Drew would count, too, since he's playing an actor filming a scene and introduces himself as Bruce ... he's uncredited in the end titles, so we don't really know whether he's Bruce Willis acting the part of an actor named Bruce playing the role of a cop who might have easily been played by Bruce Willis ... or whether he's playing himself as an actor in the role of the cop. Tricky -- I'm going to leave that one out for now, but Oceans 12 will definitely go in!

Yes. The BBC were a pretty clueless about the whole thing. Milligan smuggled all sorts of army slang past the censors - playing the pink oboe & all that...

Long before my time but I was fascinated by the surreal brilliance of the scripts when I was in my teens.

Well, I couldnt suspend that much disbelief, I suppose.

OK, heres an incredibly obscure one for you. In the film Life is Sweet, Jim Broadbent says Hes fallen in the water in a silly voice. He is imitating Spike Milligan playing a Goon Show character called Little Jim...

He soitenly does! I s'pose you know that when Spike and Harry and Peter and Michael first suggested the title the BBC bods assumed they'd made a typo and 'corrected' it to The Go On Show.

Perfect! Thanks, again Tori

I think one of them was Streisand singing Don't Rain on My Parade, wasn't it?

PS - I like Benny & Joon, too

Robin Williams does several impressions in 'Mrs. Doubtfire'.

In Benny & Joon, Johnny Depp spends pretty much the entire excruciating film imitating Buster Keaton.

I loved that movie!

I thought everyone has done Madonna...

Matthew Modine does (a lousy) John Wayne in Full Metal Jacket.

Good list ... many thanks MrBI! But - uhm - does Portman do Madonna? I thought she did Monroe? Or was it both? Anyone know? - not that it will affect the acc - I'll add it tomorrow!

In The Killing of Sister George, Susannah York & Beryl Reid attend a fancy dress party as Laurel & Hardy (respectively). Years since Ive seen this film but Im absolutely certain they adopt a few mannerisms -- Ollie fiddles with her tie & Stan scratches her head, &c - so that you could regard this as impersonating rather than merely dressing up as.

In Benny & Joon, Johnny Depp spends pretty much the entire excruciating film imitating Buster Keaton.

You're absolutely right, lamhasuas ... thanks again!
