Some of you might have heard about my quest to reduce my review list to have only one review per film (and some may disagree with where the reviews are going, but that's your choice).

Anyway, I've reduced my list now to get very close to my goal. The problem? I have five reviews that are eluding me: currently I have 8572 reviews on 8567 films. I have trawled my list carefully, but I'm just not seeing those final five doubles.

So, here's what I propose, and if no one takes this up, I'll understand. I am placing a FIFTY VOTE bounty on each review that I am able to dispose of - all you need to do is figure out what films I have more than one review against, and tell me about it. I will be giving fifty votes per review I account for, and if one person manages to find all five, then I will bump that up to a total of THREE HUNDRED VOTES. I don't care how you do it, and if you're a clever person who is good at formulas and can find them that way, then good for you.

I would like to note that I will bestow the votes on ANYONE who alerts me first (through this thread) to the culprit reviews, regardless of our past personal history.

If you find the films and you have less than 50-300 reviews available for me to vote on (or if I have voted for all of your stuff, which applies to a few people around here), then I will mete them out as you have new approvals until we're square.

Sound fair? If no one takes up the challenge, I'll do it myself, but if anyone is up for it, I will gladly visit your page and spread the gratitude.

I do receive messages in general, but I haven't had one today, either here or to my e-mail.

Is there an echo in here?

Cheers mate, once benj gets less busy I'll ask him about it. 2018 maybe?

Thanks for the votes, assuming they're not a bizarre coincidence. Not to be too ungrateful or anything, but I hope you did actually want to vote on those reviews, since they consisted of virtually all of my top 100, which you must have seen plenty of times before, and included a review that in the F.Y.C.T.H. you said was too obscure for your vote. I like votes but I'd rather deserve them. Thanks again, though.

By the way, I recently finalised the accolade for which I added most of those.

I know that no one has cast any doubt on it anyway, but just to show thoroughness here are all the same title/same year cases:

Cargo (2006)
Hamlet (1964) x 3
Hamlet (1970)
Hamlet (1990)
Hamlet (2000)
Journey To The Center Of The Earth (2008)
King Lear (1971)
Man In The Iron Mask, The (1998)
New Adventures Of Tarzan, The (1935)
New York Minute (2004)
Thirst, The (2006)

Well well. Looks like it's a dead end - thanks all for confirming that I'm not going mad, and that the last review is nowhere to be found. I'll ask benj in his leisure to look into it, but at least now I can move forward knowing at a glance how many films I've reviewed!

Votes have been cast - if you feel like you're due some and don't have any, let me know.

Seems likely to be something like that. Or review that has been edited and is thus pending again -- I've noticed that the figure often doesn't update for quite a while.
Sean Posted - 04/16/2010 : 02:50:57
A review on a movie that's been removed perhaps?
TitanPa Posted - 04/16/2010 : 02:47:32
I thought it was The Thrist. But it looks like the same movie title of the same year.
Demisemicenturian Posted - 04/16/2010 : 02:41:34
No need to do it by eye, all you crazy people.

I don't know why it didn't occur to me earlier to copy all the reviews into Notepad first. From there they could be copied very neatly into Excel and duplicates sought.

However... there aren't any. There are lots of same title/same year pairs but they are all different films. So it seems like it is a glitch after all. I could have made an error but it would be an enormous coincidence to have failed to copy the review in question or some such thing.
