H.P. is a famous brand in the U.K.: not sure about other places. It's a fictional brand in this film, the full form being the title, but still one in the food sector.

Many thanks, [matt]. Really like your latest The Descendants review, BTW. No doubt it'll appear here soon.

I have voted but was unable to say so last night because the site became unavailable just after I'd posted on another thread (cheers, dem).

Strikes me as faintly daft to feel obliged to make the 'v & v' statement each time, but I suppose that at least it serves as a sort of aide-mémoire for those of us with a rubbish memory, like me for instance.

Faintly? It stems from a time when people for some reason started not trusting that everyone had voted, which is very sad whether because of the lack of voting or the lack of trust. I always vote, and in all other similar threads in which I enter, but don't see any need to say so every time. The V&V posts are problematic here because people sometimes make them amazingly early and then potentially imagine that they have visited everyone who will enter; they also probably stop people from visiting the thread again when they see that there is a new post, assuming that it is just one of those, when in fact it might be an interesting comment or a query &c.

My personal aide-mémoire is to post each week on Facebook that I've voted, tout the website a bit, give examples of great reviews (yeah and some of my own) and invite my 100+ FB friends and their friends to stop on by, take a look around, have a laugh and try their hands at writing pithy puns on films. Don't actually know if it works, but I feel like I'm doing my own part to publicize us, in any case and I know some friends look and read because they make comments on given reviews or irreverent feedback, which is just as good.

I've always felt like a V&V post is a courtesy and I nearly always use it as a post to comment on particularly good reviews posted or clean sweeps of 5/5s in that round. I agree that it's not mandatory, but I don't agree that it's pointless - as with anything on a public forum it's entirely up to the individual user what they do and don't do
