When I took my first Production class in the Radio/TV/Film graduate sequence at the University of Georgia, we all gathered in a TV control room c. 1965 [it was 1971, and a big network had donated lots of outdated gear to the bestowers of the annual Peabody Awards for excellence in broadcasting]. Our instructor cued up a tape [this was before home video] and rolled LA JETEE. I was astonished and still am. It shook me: the audacity -- form meets content. Then there are a few frames...ah, but you all know that already. I thought M. "Marker" would live forever. And, now that I've had time to digest his passing, I guess he actually will.

My mentor, still now.

More from me.

I'm sorry, this particular filmmaker was very important to me.
